In football, there is a proverb that states that if a player is talented enough, they are also old enough. The Premier League has been host to some of the most exciting youngsters over the last 30 years, with some teenagers often finding their feet quickly in England. 

The Premier League is one of the best football competitions around the world and over the years, it has witnessed some of the greatest attacking talents. Yet, given the roughness and tempo of the English top division, it is still uncommon to see young teenagers playing at the top level.

Here we look at the top six youngest players in the Premier League to provide an assist:

6. Lewis Miley (17 Years 208 Days)

He currently plays for Newcastle United as a midfielder,  He made his first-team debut in a friendly against Al-Hilal in 2022. He has played for England U-17 and U-19 teams. Miley first appeared in the senior match-day squad as a substitute in a Premier League fixture against Bournemouth in February 2023.

On 27 September 2023, Miley started a competitive first-team game for the first time in a 1–0 win over Manchester City in the third round of the EFL Cup. Miley got his first premier league goal contribution with an assist against Chelsea.

5. Jordon Ibe (17 Years 162 Days)

He can play in almost every offensive position at the midfield, but his preferred position is still at the right-wing position. Ibe came up through the youth system at Wycombe, and made his first-team debut on 9 August 2011 in the League Cup victory against Colchester United at Adams Park, coming on as an extra-time substitute aged 15 years and 244 days. Played for U-18,U-19, U-20 and U-21 teams respectively. Once considered to be the next big thing for Liverpool currently plays in the National League.

4. Cesc Fabregas (17 Years 110 Days)

The Spaniard would develop into one of the Premier League’s finest creative midfielders and enjoy a career crammed full of titles and trophies for both club and country. A product of the near-mythical La Masia youth academy, 16-year-old Francesc Fàbregas Soler decided to leave Barcelona and move to the Premier League in September 2003. Soon he became a regular starter for the club and then he went on to create many records for the club.

3. Jonathan Leko (17 Years 21 Days)

He began his career with West Bromwich Albion and made his senior debut as a 16-year-old in 2015. Also represented England at youth level in U-16, U-17, U-18 and U-19, U-20 respectively. On 2 April 2016, he was named in the matchday squad against Sunderland and came on for Saido Berahino in the 78th minute to make his Premier League debut at the age of 16 years and 344 days.

2. Wayne Rooney (16 Years 297 Days)

Rooney was a creative, energetic forward who combined technical skill with strength and physicality, while also excelling in the air despite being small in stature. He was a versatile attacker, capable of playing anywhere along the front line he is considered to be one of the best English players of all time. He made his senior debut on 17 August in a 2–2 home draw against Tottenham Hotspur, starting the match and assisting the first goal by Mark Pembridge.

1. Aaron Lennon (16 Years 199 Days)

Lennon began his career at hometown club Leeds United, making his first-team debut in 2003 and becoming the youngest player to play in the Premier League at that time. He also represented England at youth level as well as at the Senior level. He played for clubs like Leeds United, Spurs, Everton, and Burnley, he became the youngest player to appear in the Premier League at the age of 16 years and 129 days, coming off the bench at White Hart Lane against Tottenham Hotspur in a 2–1 loss in August 2003.
