Giorgio Chiellini announces retirement from football

Giorgio Chiellini won nine Scudetto with Juventus
As GOAL can confirm, Giorgio Chiellini, a defender for LAFC, has decided to retire from playing. He has been linked to a boardroom post at Juventus.
GOAL has learned that the legendary Italian will officially announce his retirement decision on Tuesday afternoon. The 39-year-old, who has played in Major League Soccer for the last two years with LAFC, made a hint about maybe retiring following his 2023 season’s conclusion with a loss to Columbus Crew in the MLS Cup Final.
He also revealed in his interview with Atheltci and said: “come and get me” plea and said: “I see Juventus in my future. I don’t know in what role, but it’s a place where I’ve spent almost half my life.”
It has been speculated that after hanging up his boots at the age of 39, Chiellini may return to his former haunt, the Allianz Stadium in Turin, as a football administrator. His brother Claudio is currently in charge of Juventus’ Next Gen initiative.

Chiellini might, however, decide to stay in the US for an additional six months to rejuvenate himself following a protracted playing career; in this case, a summer transfer to Juventus would have to wait.
Chiellini made 561 matches for Juventus throughout his storied career, scoring 36 goals. He won a plethora of honours, including five Supercoppa Italiana, five Coppa Italia, and nine Serie A crowns. Furthermore, in 2015 and 2017, Chiellini made it to the Champions League Final.
Additionally, Chiellini led the Azzurri to a championship win over England at Wembley Stadium while serving as captain of Italy in the 2020 European Championship.
Although he hasn’t ruled out working in the league, Chiellini has said that he would like to see MLS grow. It is said that Chiellini and Juventus have not spoken as of yet, but he can make a comeback.
