Michael Olise has struggled with injuries this season

The winger for Crystal Palace, Michael Olise, is out for the entire month of January because of an injury to his hamstring. He will not play in his team’s FA Cup match against Everton this evening.

Despite being spotted hobbling at the end of Palace’s 3-1 victory over Brentford on Saturday, Olise scored twice, raising questions about whether he had suffered a setback in his fitness.

Eagles manager Roy Hodgson stated he is unsure of how long the 22-year-old will be out injured, but he has confirmed Olise won’t be ready to play Everton.

Michael Olise had to come off right at the end as he felt his hamstring with the last sprint he made in the game. He won’t take part tomorrow,’ Hodgson said. ‘We have to nurse him through and hope he comes back as quickly as possible.

The next question will be how long is he out but I can’t answer that one.

‘We’re hoping this one won’t be as bad as the one that put him out for six months. We don’t think and hope it won’t be like that.’

However, Michael Olise is expected to miss a minimum of three more weeks. The 22-year-old will not participate in the replay that follows the 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park on Thursday in the FA Cup third round against Everton.

He might not be able to make it back in time for Sheffield United’s home game ten days later. He is anticipated to miss a Premier League match against Arsenal on January 20.

While representing France in the Under-21 European Championship in June, Olise sustained a severe hamstring tear that necessitated surgery, keeping him out of preseason play and the opening of the Premier League season.

After suffering a hamstring injury, Olise sacrificed the first three months of this season; however, since returning in November, the 22-year-old has begun recovering ground. With five goals in nine games for Selhurst Park, the winger has proven himself as among Roy Hodgson’s main performers.
