ISL 2023-24: Odisha FC vs FC Goa – Build-up

Odisha FC is going to face FC Goa in their next match of Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24. The match is scheduled on 9th of February and will be played at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. 

The match promises to be a captivating battle as both teams vie for the top position in the points table. Despite Odisha FC currently leading the table with 30 points from 14 matches, a victory for FC Goa would enable them to surpass the Juggernauts based on goal difference.

Sergio Lobera’s team is on the brink of experiencing a remarkable season. The team has maintained an unbeaten streak in the 2023-24 ISL, winning their last 10 matches. Following the midseason break, they secured victories in both of their recent clashes. In the first match, they triumphed over Kerala Blasters FC with a score of 2-1, while in the second match, they defeated Hyderabad FC with a convincing 3-0 score-line. 

Due to a hectic schedule in a short period of time, the coach intended to rest some key players in the last match. However, it is certain that they will come back strongly in the upcoming match, which holds significant importance for both teams in the context of the league.

The Gaurs have emerged as the most dominant side this season, remaining undefeated in all matches played so far. Out of the 11 league matches, they have emerged victorious in eight and settled for a draw in three. Holding the top position on the table until the mid-season break, a win in their upcoming match would once again propel them to the leading position. 

Notably, Manolo Marquez’s team has exhibited a solid defensive performance throughout the season, conceding a mere five goals in the 11 matches, showcasing their exceptional class and prowess at the backline.
