The Spanish club wanted to sign the player on a permanent transfer

Mason Greenwood’s definitive transfer is something Getafe are willing to talk about, but it’s thought that a different loan would be a more straightforward choice. In September, Greenwood went on loan to the club located in Madrid.

The Premier League has approved Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s partial takeover at Old Trafford, and the Red Devils are currently formulating long-term strategies.

Although it is unlikely that Mason Greenwood would participate in those, no decision has been made regarding what will happen to the 22-year-old forward moving ahead.

The Sun claims the judgement will be rendered by the end of May. According to reports, Ratcliffe gave the Greenwood story top emphasis at Manchester United. It is believed that a conclusion is necessary to enable all involved parties to move on, without an extended tale serving as an unwanted diversion.

Since his arrest in January 2022 on charges of rape and sexual assault, Greenwood has not appeared for Man United. Following the dismissal of those accusations in February 2023, the winger—who has scored seven goals and provided five assists so far this season—has drawn interest from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

Regarding the England international with just one cap, who is still making an impression while on loan at Getafe in Spain, Ratcliffe stated:

“We will make a decision. I don’t know if he could still have a future. All I can do is talk about the principle of how we will approach decisions like that. Is he the right type of footballer? Are we happy with that? Is he a good person or not? He is a Manchester United footballer and we are in charge of football. So the answer is it’s quite clear we have to make a decision.”
