Jude Bellingham has been singing of the season for Real Madrid

In spite of Jude Bellingham’s reported ‘rapist’ comments made during the game, Mason Greenwood is unwilling to see him penalised.

Jude Bellingham, 20, is charged with directing the insult at Greenwood, a Manchester United loanee, during Real Madrid’s La Liga match against Getafe earlier this month.

The prosecutor’s office withdrew charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive conduct, and violence resulting in actual harm against Greenwood in February 2023. Greenwood has been spending the present campaign on loan at Getafe, located in Madrid.

Bellingham tackled the United youth player after Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory, and a professional lip reader thinks that video of an on-field argument indicates that the England international referred to Greenwood as a “rapist.” Getafe requested that judge Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea record Bellingham’s claimed slur in his match report.

The Spanish football authorities immediately opened a probe, but it is now rumoured that Greenwood wishes to get the case closed. Though very unhappy’ at the time and taken aback that it came from Bellingham, the 22-year-old is eager to maintain the focus on his football.

“Mason has told them he doesn’t want Jude to be punished and has asked them to drop it. He doesn’t want bad publicity and wants to get on with playing football. He was very upset at the time as he didn’t expect it from someone like Jude.

Mason Greenwood is still bound to United through the end of the following campaign. According to Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club’s new co-owner, an assessment regarding his future will be made this summer.

The Sun was informed by a source:

“But he knows he’s always likely to be a target for that kind of stuff so he’s accepted he’ll need a thick skin.”

“We will make a decision, correct,” Ratcliffe told a pool of reporters last week. “All I can do is talk about the principle of how we will approach decisions like that. Is he the right type of footballer, are we happy with if is he a good person or not? He’s a Manchester United footballer, so we are in charge of football.
