FC Bardez Goa and Panjim Footballers play out drab draw
The Pink Brigade dropped two important points against the promoted side.
Snedden Rodrigues scored in the second-half to help Panjim Footballers to hold FC Bardez Goa to a drab 1-1 draw in the Goa Professional League match played under floodlights at Duler Stadium earlier late in the evening.
Panjim were in the poor form as they had lost last matches to Dempo SC and Corps of Signals conceding seven goals in the last two matches, whereas Bardez were in the fantastic form as they came from a goal down to beat Dempo 3-2 in the previous round.
Bardez gaffer Armando Colaco made few changes to their side as Krishnanath Shirodkar, Caitano Viegas, Dawson Fernandes and Joywin Carneiro found their names in starting XI. Panjim coach Savio Vaz brought back keeper Gurpreet Singh between the sticks and U-20 defender Kunal Kundaikar in the playing XI, while, Velton D’Souza, Dalesh Pednekar and Schubert D’Costa were new faces in the lineup for the Capital city side.
It was an end-to-end affair in the first 20 minutes as both the sides marched on each other on many occasions but could not come out with any goals.

Whereas next 25 minutes witnessed dominant play for the Pink Brigade where they had the best chance when Jessel Carneiro curled the ball to Dawson in the box but the striker shot sky-high from 6-yards, while in the 42nd minutes Inacio Colaco’s goalbound shot from edge of the box was nicely fisted over the crossbar by Panjim keeper Gurpreet.
However, a very next minute saw Jessel taking Bardez into the lead when he nicely headed in from inside the box off Inacio’s curling cross from the right.
Unlike in the first half, Panjim were improved side in the second session as they came up with series of attacks just after changing the sides. They had the best chance in the 59th minutes when Snedden dangerously moved in the rival’s area but saw his shot brilliantly blocked by Bardez keeper Aliston Fernandes. Ten minutes later, Substitute Joston Cardoz was in the commanding position but failed to control his shot from inside the box with just keeper at the stake.
After some probing attacks, the capital city side finally found the equaliser in the 70th minutes when Joston nicely released the ball to well-positioned Snedded in the box who clinically shot past keeper Aliston to rescue a point from the match.
