Sunil Chhetri’s record-breaking goal was the highlight of the day.

It was a Saturday doubleheader in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 as Odisha FC began the day with a much-awaited first win to get their season underway. Diego Mauricio and Mourtada Fall scored a goal each in the first half before Fall scored an own goal. The Juggernauts fought hard and managed to get their first three points of the campaign.

In the second match, Bengaluru FC put together a five-star performance against Mohun Bagan to wrap up their third back-to-back of the season. Edgar Mendez, Suresh Singh Wangjam, and Sunil Chhetri scored a goal each for the home side and put the game past Mohun Bagan Super Giant. With this, Chhetri made it to the history books by becoming the league’s record goalscorer. 

A brief look at the points table

Bengaluru FC have reclaimed the top spot following their thumping win over the Mariners. Punjab FC are now ranked second with nine points in hand. Jamshedpur FC are still ranked third while FC Goa are placed fourth. Mohammedan Sporting have climbed to the fifth position while Mohun Bagan have dropped down to sixth. 

Chennaiyin FC are in seventh place followed by Kerala Blasters in eighth. NorthEast United FC are now in the ninth spot. Odisha FC have opened their account and are now ranked tenth. Mumbai City FC are placed eleventh followed by East Bengal, and Hyderabad FC in the 12th and 13th places respectively.
