Flame On!

NetEase has finally dropped the official trailer and reveal of the upcoming new hero Human Torch in Marvel Rivals. As expected, this guy seems to be broken and can rain down fire from the sky. Both new characters will be out on February 21, 2025.

In this article, we will check out the trailer, his playstyle, gameplay, abilities and more details. Without wasting any more time, let’s get right into it.

Human Torch abilities

Johnny Storm aka Human Torch is a duelist in the game and has a team up with other Fantastic Four characters along with Storm.

  • Fire Cluster – Sends out a splittable fireball. According to Necros, this is more like a shotgun. I believe it will inflict some splash damage on impact, making it easier to hit and more consistent. It will undoubtedly be good at spamming chokes.
  • Plasma Body – Hold LShift to quicken your climb. According to our understanding, Johnny will be another flying hero. That means he will counter a large number of melee characters in this game.
  • Blazing Blast – Launch a fireball to create a Flame Field in the target area. Amazing ability to hold chokes and objectives. Torch appears to be particularly adept at restricting space and directing the fight.
  • Flaming Meteor – Dive toward the ground, delivering damage to foes and detonating any Flame Fields hit. Imagine you’re fighting for an objective and Johnny chooses to turn it into a fire hazard, forcing everyone to flee for their life. If you don’t control him, he’ll be a problem.
  • Pyro-Prison – Connect Flame Fields to create a firewall that inflicts continual burning harm on adversaries. He gains more field control abilities. If you play against the Human Torch, it appears that you will have to navigate through fire and flames to reach the point. It will depend on how long it lasts; you must timing it well.
  • Supernova – Explode with cosmic fire, dealing damage to opponents in range. Upon skill activation, all Flame Fields turn into Flame Tornadoes, doing additional damage. Destruction level 100, he appears to be turning everything to ash.
  • Burning Soar – Soar fiercely upward. This will be his primary dodge shot ability. He’ll need it because Torch will most likely be an accessible target for hitscans.
  • Storming Ignition – Team-Up Ability: Storm can use one of Human Torch’s Fire tornadoes as her ultimate to ignite her hurricane. Similarly, Human Torch can use his ultimate to transform Storm’s hurricane into a flaming hurricane, enlarging and intensifying any of his fire tornadoes. This might be a major issue because Storm Ult is already nearly unstoppable.

Playstyle & Gameplay

Although the team-up from Storm looks quite broken, you have to remember that you are using two ultimates for that. So, it is kind of fair that it will be a little powerful.

As a flying character, Human Torch is surely going to be weak against Hitscan characters and Spider-Man as well. He is just like Storm but might be a superior and better version of her in Marvel Rivals.

Controlling the battlefield and diving with the dive comp in the backline will be the main playstyles and strategies that you should while playing this character in Marvel Rivals.
