PKL 11: We backed Devank & he performed well, says Patna Pirates coach Narender Redhu
Patna Pirates defeated Tamil Thaliavas to register their first win in PKL 11.
Patna Pirates claimed their first victory of Pro Kabaddi League Season 11 (PKL 11) with an impressive 42-40 win over the Tamil Thaliavas at the GMCB Indoor Stadium in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. It was a game filled with end-to-end action with both teams putting up a great show. Tamil Thalaivas were in the lead and looked dominant for the majority of the game until Patna Pirates turned the tables around.
The Pirates led by Devank up front turned the game on its head and fought back from behind to secure their first win of the season. Devank scored 25 points and recorded the most successful individual performance of the season so far. After the game, Patna Pirates’ head coach Narender Kumar Redhu, and Tamil Thalaivas’ head coach J. Udaya Kumar addressed the media.

Thoughts on the game and Devank’s performance
Patna Pirates’ head coach Narender Kumar Redhu opened up about his side’s performance and said that his side won’t stop here and will continue the winning momentum.
“In the first match, we had new boys and Puneri Paltan are a star team. But, we were confident that someone would perform. And today Devank performed well. So, we backed him and he helped us get the win. As the season progresses, all the other players will start getting in form. I feel we won’t stop here and keep going.”
Thoughts on the game
Tamil Thalaivas’ head coach J. Udaya Kumar also shared his views on the game and blamed defensive mistakes for the loss. He also praised Devank for his performance.
“We played well in the first half and made defensive mistakes in the second half and therefore the match slipped out of our hands. It was a good performance from Devank. We played in a hurry and made mistakes at the back. We will control the team and rectify the mistakes in the next match,” said Tamil Thalaivas head coach
Tamil Thalaivas’ skipper Sahil Gulia also opened up about his thoughts on the game. He said, “We had a great game until half-time, but then we made defensive mistakes and therefore lost the game. The raiders did really well, but we lost because of our mistakes at the back,”
Next game
Speaking about the next game against the Jaipur Pink Panthers, J. Uday Kumar said that his side won’t repeat the same mistakes and will put up a better performance against the two-time champions.
“We will plan for our next match against Jaipur Pink Panthers. We will make sure we don’t make so many defensive mistakes and we will rectify our mistakes. There won’t be so many mistakes and we will take the experience from this game and put up a good performance in the next game,” he concluded.
