On scoring 1000 raid points in PKL
While Arjun Deshwal’s milestone of reaching 1000 raid points stole the spotlight, Neeraj Narwal’s 9 points (including 7 raid points) played a crucial role in the Panthers’ narrow win.
“I will first check who all have congratulated me but the team’s win was more important. It feels really great but I want to thank the sport for giving me so much, this success, the love, everything,” said Arjun Deshwal.
The match had a slow start, with both sides exchanging points steadily. The Jaipur Pink Panthers held a slim lead for much of the first half, with Deshwal and Narwal driving the attack and Reza Mirbagheri and Surjeet Singh steadying the defence. However, UP Yoddhas surged ahead by halftime, securing a 17-15 lead with Sumit’s Super Tackle on Deshwal.
On facing Patna Pirates next in PKL 11
The UP Yoddhas’ defence excelled with multiple Super Tackles, briefly keeping Arjun Deshwal and Narwal at bay. Yet, Jaipur struck back with the first All-Out of PKL 11’s second half, led by Neeraj Narwal’s aggressive raiding and Hitesh’s defensive High 5.
Jaipur Pink Panthers will now go on to face three-time Pro Kabaddi League Champions Patna Pirates on Friday, November 8.
“We still have two-three days to go, they are a good team, their Devank is a good raider, they have played well as a unit. But I have full faith in my team in my team, we have made a few mistakes, if we rectify them, there is no stopping us, ” said Arjun.
On playing the next PKL 11 match against U Mumba
Deshwal’s historic 1000th raid point against Surender Gill boosted Jaipur’s momentum, and a late High 5 from Mirbagheri capped their defensive effort. In the end, Ankush Rathee’s last-minute tackle sealed a three-point victory, marking a memorable win for Jaipur Pink Panthers in PKL 11. UP Yoddhas will next face U Mumba in PKL 11 on November 10th in Noida.
“We might have lost this match, but we will learn from this match. The next one against U Mumba will be a good one at our home ground. Our defence was really good today, so that is one positive we will carry forward, ” said UP Yoddhas coach.
