The Bengali defender scored a screamer for the Lions against the visitors.

A brilliant first-half goal by Delhi Dynamos’ Rana Gharami wasn’t enough to down FC Pune City as they had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home in their opening match of Indian Super League (ISL). In the first half, Rana took advantage of the empty space in the midfield and went for a long shot which landed straight into the opposition net. An absolute belter of a shot was all to separate the two sides in the first half.

Late in the second half, though, a brilliant one-two passing between Pune City’s Emiliano Alfaro and Diego Carlos resulted in a goal for which the latter proved as a super sub for the Stallions.

Here are our Indian Player Ratings for the evening.

Watch: Delhi Dynamos 1-1 FC Pune City highlights

Delhi Dynamos

Rana Gharami- 8.5

Rana was undoubtedly Delhi’s best man on the field. Managed to block a couple of shots from Alfaro early on in the game. Separated the two sides with an absolute stunner of a goal just before the half time. An excellent performance overall by the defender.

Pritam Kotal- 6.0

Kotal was kept busy in the first half by Ashique as the Dynamos' defender was Beaten on pace a couple of times by the young winger. Created a chance for Kaluderovic in the second half but the striker made nothing out of it.

Narayan Das- 7.0

Das took a good shot in the first half which was saved by the opposition keeper. Helped in the attack a few times as well. A good outing by the full back.

Bikramjit Singh- 5.0

Started the game well. Should have had released the ball quicker. Active in the midfield until he was stretchered off with a thigh injury.

Lallianzuala Chhangte- 6.5

Skilful with the ball, Chhangte caused problems to the opposition defence as he made some dangerous crosses into the box. Although, he couldn’t penetrate into the box and was kept at bay. He should have had done better with the one-on-one chance later in the second half.

Nandhakumar Sekar-6

Sekar was unlucky today as he came very close to scoring in the first half but his shot scraped just above the crossbar. Posed as a constant threat and patched up well with Kaluderovic overall in the game until he was replaced by Romeo.

Substitutions

Vinit Rai- 5.5

Rai did a better job than Bikramjit whom he replaced in the first half itself. His game was mostly of simple passing. Provided opportunity for wingers to make dangerous runs through the flanks.

Romeo Fernandes- 5.5

Created a good chance inside the box, only a few minutes after coming on. Constantly caused problems to the opposition with dangerous passes and came close to scoring at a couple of instances too.

Shubham Sarangi- N/A

Had very less time to make an impact on the game.

FC Pune City

Vishal Kaith- 6.5

Was helpless during the first goal but still should have shown some effort as the shot went straight above his head.

Nim Dorjee Tamang- 6.0

Both of Pune City’s full backs had a busy day. Tamang had a tough job handling Chhangte on the wing. A couple of times he managed to get the better of the skilful winger.

Lalchhuan Mawia- 6.0

Sluggish in the first half, almost conceded a goal by Mihelic, thanks to a save from the goalkeeper. Sekar constantly posed a threat to Mawia in the game but the defender managed to keep him at bay.

Adil Khan- 5.5

Started the game well as he carried out good pressing. Although much was expected from the strong midfielder, he became ineffective as the game advanced until he was subbed off later on in the second half.

Ashique Kuruniyan- 6.0

The youngster produced some exciting moments early in the first half by making producing some brilliant solo runs. He caused problems to Kotal in many instances. A strong performance by the winger.

Jakob Vanlalhlimpuia-5.5

For the majority of the game, Jakob was kept quiet by the opposition defence. However, he created a great chance for Adil Khan early on in the second half, but the latter’s attempt went wide from the post. It wasn’t a very satisfactory performance by Jakob.

Substitutions

Gurtej Singh- 5.5

After replacing Martin Diaz in the second half, Gurtej performed well alongside Matt Mills. He managed to handle the pressure from Romeo Fernandes.
