Indian Player Ratings: Substitute Raynier Fernandes makes an impact, Pritam Kotal once again disappoints

The Dynamos remain at the bottom of the table without a single win this season after a disappointing loss against the Islanders.

In a six-goal thriller, Mumbai City managed to get an emphatic 4-2 victory over home side Delhi Dynamos at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. It was a cracker of a game, which saw a goal scored from a penalty while also a couple of unbelievable own goals by both the sides.

With that win, Mumbai now move to the 4th place in the Indian Super League (ISL) table while on the other hand, Delhi remain at the bottom without a single win this season.

Although he conceded four goals, Gomes made some brilliant saves too

The custodian was once again unlucky on the night as the first two goals were beyond his saving. However, the defence in front of him was shambolic enough to concede two more goals.

Nevertheless, Albino did manage to brilliantly save efforts from both Sogou as well as Bastos but that wasn’t enough as his side suffered yet another defeat.

The Delhi skipper has not been at his best this season

The Indian national team player was not at his best form against Mumbai as he was equally responsible for the unorganised defence line. His clear handball in the box resulted in the penalty from which the opponents scored their equaliser in the 48th minute.

Moreover, Kotal even received a yellow card for pulling Machado’s shirt in the 73rd minute. The 25-year-old is one of the key players for Delhi but didn't have a night out on the field.

Narayan Das - 5.5

Like Kotal, Das, too had a lacklustre performance and couldn’t stop the strong Issoko from entering into the danger zone. The left-back should have had closed down Issoko when the Congolese waited for long to provide a cross to Machado who scored Mumbai’s fourth goal.

Bikramjit Singh - 6

Bikramjit was very energetic in the first half as he worked very well between the transition of the game.

However, since his side conceded the equaliser, his energy level dropped considerably as he just wasn’t visible on the pitch. He was eventually substituted off in the 72nd minute to make way for Kaludjerovic.

Nandhakumar Sekar - 6

Nandha had several decent chances in the first half but the forward just couldn’t get his shots on target. His finishing has been a problem since the last game and must at once improve on it to keep his place in the starting lineup. Otherwise, the 22-year-old wasn’t much involved in the game, particularly in the second half.

The youngster proved his potential once again tonight, although he had to finish on the losing side

Chhangte was probably Delhi’s best player when it came to attacking as he once again showed what talent he has and how he can be considered as a good candidate in the senior national team. The 21-year-old was absolutely outstanding from the left wing as he caused Souvik a lot of problems with his skill and pace with the ball. He was lucky to get on the scoresheet early in the game, even though it should have been given an own goal.

On another occasion in the second half, Chhangte should have scored when he drove a shot straight into the hands of Amrinder in a one-on-one situation.

Substitutes

Rana Gharami - 5.5

Came on to replace Crespi in the 72nd minute and instantly settled in the game. He looked pretty solid while defending but was equally responsible during Machado’s goal.

Daniel Lalhlimpuia - 6.5

Came on in the 81st minute to replace Kotal and got a couple of great chances but he missed the target first time while Amrinder saved his second effort late in the 92nd minute.

Amrinder Singh - 6.5

Amrinder was in his top form on the night as he brilliantly saved a couple of shots from Carmona and Daniel late in the game.

Despite conceding a couple of goals from dead ball situations before, the 25-year-old held his ground firmly as he didn’t allow any late goals as the Dynamos looked to seek redemption.

Milan Singh - 5.5

Milan Singh delivered a below-par performance as he looked unsettled in the midfield for majority of the time. He was eventually substituted four minutes before halftime as Raynier Fernandes came on. The 26 year-old looks to have suffered with an unidentified injury which explains his early substitution.

The national team player was rock solid against Delhi's frontline

Subhasish played a brilliant part in his side’s thrilling win as he was rock solid in the defence. The 23-year-old made three crucial tackles. Amongst his clearances was a superb goal-line clearance, that he performed to deny Kaludjerovic.

Sehnaj Singh - 5.5

The midfielder was pretty solid in the centre of the park but was reckless while tackling on several occasions. No wonder he received a yellow card for a bad tackle on Carmona in the 51st minute.

Otherwise, it was a quite good outing for Sehnaj as he performed seven tackles and six clearances overall in the game.

Joyner Lourenco - 7

The centre-back played well alongside Lucian Goian but was equally responsible for leaving Zuiverloon unmarked when he scored Delhi’s equaliser in the 64th minute. Yet, the 27 year-old did well while passing the ball as he maintained a good 90% accuracy.

While defending too, he went on to make nine clearances overall and also blocked three shots. Nevertheless, he did receive a yellow card in the 55th minute for a reckless tackle on Nandha Kumar.

Souvik Chakrabarti - 6.5

Souvik made a return to the Mumbai lineup but started the game by diverting a heavy cross straight into his own net. The right back should have had done better while clearing Chhangte’s cross.

Apart from that, the 26-year-old played a decent part in defending as he performed a couple of good challenges especially the one on Chhangte in the 44th minute. The former Mohun Bagan player must improve to keep his spot in the starting lineup.

Substitutions

Raynier Fernandes – 8

The Mumbai lad was brought in at the end of the first half to replace Milan and he put on a good display. He did his passing well and also got on the scoresheet in the 69th minute to give Mumbai the lead after a great assist provided by Machado.
