The 60-year-old Italian manager joined Napoli in 2018.
Reports in Italy suggest that Napoli’s President Aurelio De Laurentiis believes that the former Juventus manager, Massimiliano Allegri, would be the suitable person to replace Carlo Ancelotti at the club as the latter has found his position come under scanner after a recent run of poor performances. Napoli are currently placed at the seventh spot on the points with merely five wins from 15 matches and have secured only 21 points so far. They have drawn six matches and lost in four other encounters and are 17 points adrift of league-leaders, Inter Milan. [KH_ADWORDS type="3" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] Even Cagliari have leapfrogged Napoli to be at the fourth spot with 29 points to their name and the failure to even come close to holding on to a Champions League berth could see Ancelotti being deserted of his role in the club. As per Calcio Mercato, De Laurentiis is keen to draft in Allegri to replace the incumbent manager. The 52-year-old was released of his duties by Juventus earlier this summer as Maurizio Sarri was brought in to possibly lead the Old Lady to European glory. Allegri had previously spoken on his current situation though, just a few days ago where he revealed more about his future plans. He said, “After my experience at Juventus, Giovanni Branchini and I decided to take a year off. I played for eighteen years, coached for sixteen more; I took a year off after working thirty-four. I’m happy, I had some time to ponder things, talk to people, look after myself. I went to the theatre, some art exhibits and read some books.” [KH_RELATED_NEWS title="Related News | ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS] Allegri had a successful stint in Juventus where he won five Serie A titles in a row and ensured a single-handed dominance by his club for a long span of time. However, despite having played in two UEFA Champions League finals, he was unable to secure a victory in either of them and hence their failure to notch success on the continental front meant that the club looked for fresher options to further progress towards their bigger ambitions. The Serie A has lightened up with the arrival of Antonio Conte at Inter Milan though and it is not as if Allegri could conveniently steer an easy ride towards victory in the league if he takes over at Napoli. The recent developments have resulted in stiffer competitions amongst the teams and it is understandable as to why Napoli could be looking for a change in order to overturn their ongoing form and fortunes.Latest News
