Sinner wins the ATP Finals undefeated and bags $4.88 million during the week-long event.

Jannik Sinner was on a mission in the 2024 season. He finished the season on a high note, bagging the ATP Finals trophy in his second title-round appearance and remaining undefeated all week. It was Sinner’s eighth title of the season. A paycheck of $4.88 million accompanied the win, an amount second only to the $6 million he won at the Six Kings Slam exhibition event in Riyadh.

Sinner’s win came with the loss of only 33 games en route to the title and the first since Andy Murray in 2016 to win on home soil. His comprehensive takedown of Taylor Fritz in the final made him the first Italian to taste victory at the event.

The $4.88 million prize money was 26% larger than the $3.6 million the Italian took home for winning the US Open in September. Sinner, the World No. #1, also leads the ATP tour with the biggest haul of prize money earned in the 2024 season.

He accumulated $16.9 million, a substantial $7 million over and above the earnings of his chief rival, Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard earned $9.85 million and four tour-level titles in 2024.

A breakdown of the earnings by the elite eight who participated in the season finale.

Andrey Rublev – $331,000

Andrey Rublev qualified on the back of his wins in Hong Kong and Madrid. While the win at the Hong Kong Open set the ball rolling, securing 1000 ATP points by lifting the trophy at the Madrid Masters helped the Russian secure his spot in the ATP Finals.

However, Rublev could not make the desired impression at Turin, losing all three round-robin matches and exiting at the group stage. Following set-straight losses to Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz, the Russian pushed Casper Ruud to three sets in the final round-robin match. A loss to the Norwegian meant Rublev’s stay in Turin ended with a third consecutive loss. He earned $331,000 for turning up to play.

Alex de Minaur – $331,000

Alex de Minaur leaned on his wins at ‘s-Hertogenbosch and Acapulco to make his first ATP Finals qualification. By retaining the Acapulco title from 2023, the Aussie made a strong case for his first appearance in Turin.

Australian debutant Alex de Minaur, too, failed to make much headway on his first visit to Turin. The No. 7 seed opened with two losses to Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev, losing both in straight sets. Taking on Taylor Fritz on day five, De Minaur could not capitalise on the one set lead he carved out over the American. The defeat meant the Australian would depart with $331,000 as earnings.

Daniil Medvedev – $727,500

Daniil Medvedev, ATP Finals champion in 2020, continued his lacklustre season at the year-ending event. Title-round appearances at the Australian Open and the ATP Masters 1000 Indian Wells gave Medvedev another chance at the title.

The lone bright spot for the Russian was a comeback win against Alex de Minaur after losing to fifth-seed Taylor Fritz in the first game. Medvedev exited from the event after a 63-minute loss to Jannik Sinner, but richer by $727,500.

Carlos Alcaraz – $727,500

Carlos Alcaraz was one of the title contenders in Turin following four ATP-level titles, including the French Open and Wimbledon. Alcaraz was third to qualify for the season finale but did not go far due to an unexpected illness derailing his campaign.

The Spaniard, playing in his second ATP Finals, lost the opener to Casper Ruud before bouncing back against Andrey Rublev. A closely fought match against Alexander Zverev that ended in a loss left him doubtful of a place in the semi-finals.

When Ruud defeated Andrey Rublev in their group-stage match, Alacraz’s fate was sealed, and he left Turin with $727,500 in the bag.

Casper Ruud – $1,124,000

Casper Ruud enjoyed an above-average season on the way to a qualifying spot in the 2024 edition of the ATP Final. The Norwegian picked up a win at the Geneva Open for the third time before going on to achieve the biggest win of his career, the ATP 500 Barcelona Open. Ruud defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in the finals.

The 25-year-old Oslo native is a 2022 finalist at the ATP Finals and gave a good account of himself in the 2024 edition. Ruud handed Alcaraz his first defeat in five matches. He recouped after a loss to Zverev to hand Rublev a defeat and make the semi-final stage. A dominant Sinner ended Ruud’s Turin campaign, sending him home with $1.12 million in hand.

Alexander Zverev – $1,520,500

Alexander Zverev won two ATP 1000 events in Paris and Rome. The last time Zverev lifted two Masters trophies in the same year was in 2021 (Cincinnati, Madrid). Further along the year, he went on to win his second ATP Finals, having won the title in 2018. The German also made the finals at Roland Garros for his second Grand Slam final after the 2020 US Open.

Zverev made this way through the group stage unscathed, winning all three round-robin matches. On the way to the last four, he got the better of Alcaraz in a rematch of their French Open face-off. The World No. #2 failed to make the final after losing to Taylor Fritz, departing with a $1.52 million paycheck.

Taylor Fritz – $2,247,400

Taylor Fritz crossed more than a few milestones this season chief among them were becoming a three-time winner at Eastbourne and the first American US Open finalist in two decades. Andy Roddick was the last American to reach the finals at Flushing Meadows in 2003.

Fritz added the title at Eastbourne to his Delray Beach trophy, besides reaching the finals at Munich and New York to confirm his spot in the 2024 ATP Finals for the second time.

Fritz improved on his semi-final showing in 2022 to reach the final of the prestigious event for the first time. The fifth seed became the first American to reach the final at the season finale since James Blake in 2006.

However, after his loss the hunt for the first American champion at the ATP Finals since Pete Sampras in 1999 continues. Following a straight-set defeat to Sinner, Fritz leaves as the new World No. 4 with earnings of $2.2 million.

Jannik Sinner – $4,881,100

Jannik Sinner was saving the best for the last when he tore through the competition undefeated at the 2024 ATP Finals. The Italian was the first to qualify, and a stellar year brought him to the doorstep of his eighth tour-level title. Sinner won the two hard-court Grand Slams in Melbourne and New York and a trio of ATP 1000s at Miami, Cincinnati and Shanghai before arriving in Turin.

Sinner improved to 8-1 in finals in the 2024 season, the sole loss coming in Beijing following his victory at the ATP Finals. He also notched up a 70-6 win-loss record this year. The 23-year-old converted last season’s final run into a title in 2024 soon after confirming his status as the new year-end No. #1 during the Shanghai Masters.

Sinner is also the first man since Ivan Lendl in 1986 to win the ATP Finals without dropping a set. His significant winnings of $4.88 million is second only to the $6 million paycheck he picked up from winning the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh earlier this year.
