Ugo Humbert apologises for behaviour during ATP Paris Masters 2024 against Karen Khachanov

Ugo Humbert revealed he personally contacted Karen Khachanov to apologise.

Ugo Humbert has come forward in apologising for his behaviour against Karen Khachanov during ATP Paris Masters 2024. He posted a story on Instagram revealing what he was going through in Paris. Humbert mentioned that he was misunderstood and was also scrutinised for lack of fair play. He felt that this was a lesson and would act better in future.

Humbert revealed that he had personally contacted Khachanov to apologise for his act in Paris. The Frenchman was earlier slammed for his exaggerated celebrations in the match against an injured Khachanov. The Russian himself during a post-match interview felt that Humbert did not know how to treat his opponents with respect.

Humbert was facing the heat in social media too for his attitude on the court in Paris. He opened up on the emotions he was undergoing during the semi-finals in Paris due to cramps troubling him on court. He also stated that he had not realised Khachanov was injured during the match. Apart from his controversial behaviour in Paris, Humbert has recorded his best performance yet on the tour.

The world No #14 achieved his best rankings yet of 13 this season and also clinched two titles. He won a personal best of 39 matches and lost 24. Humbert also collected $2,767,447 in terms of prize money and it is the first season where has won more than $ 2m.

Ugo Humbert ends season after Moselle Open 2024 withdrawal

Defending champion Humbert withdrew from the Moselle Open 2024 as he was supposed to open his campaign against Hugo Gaston. The All French clash still took place as Gaston defeated Titouan Droguet. Meanwhile Humbert’s withdrawal officially marks his end in the 2024 season.

The 26-year-old will be taking a break as only two events remain this year. The list has already been confirmed for the ATP Finals and the Davis Cup Finals does not feature France. Humbert will be ending the season inside the top 15 of the rankings. He played in 27 events this season and clinched two titles after reaching four finals.

Humbert could next be seen in the United Cup which is expected to begin from December 28. Until then, he will be recovering from a hectic season after having played 63 matches. Humbert will be ending a season as the highest ranked Frenchmen for the second successive year.
