Edge to retire this Friday on WWE SmackDown in Toronto: Reports

The Rated ‘R’ Superstar will face Sheamus on his 25th Anniversary this week
Edge was advertised to return at the August 18th episode at SmackDown at Toronto for his 25th Anniversary. However, The Rated ‘R’ Superstar surprisingly returned to SmackDown last week and shocked the Calgary crowd. He then announced of having a match with Sheamus on his 25th Anniversary as he never had a match against Sheamus before and wanted to have at least one match with him before retirement. Since Edge has been teasing his retirement in recent times, Edge’s trainer Ron Hutchinson has reported that this match could be his last match.
Ron Hutchinson on Edge’s retirement
Run Hutchinson in his recent interview with the Wrestling Observer Radio reported that the Edge vs Sheamus match at SmackDown in Toronto could be Edge’s last match. Edge has already spoken about his retirement in Toronto last year. Last year in Toronto, Edge had a match against “The Archer of Infamy” Damien Priest on Raw, and won. After the match when Raw went off air, Edge cut a promo stating that he wishes to retire in the city of Toronto the next year, which is 2023.
Edge about his retirement plans at Toronto last year,
“I can’t wait to do it some more. And I can’t wait to hopefully come back one last time. One last time here in Toronto. Looking at the calendar, we usually come here in August. So next August, I plan on seeing each and every one of you. And in a perfect world, we all say goodbye to each other that night.”
With multiple rumors and reports around his retirement, WWE has not billed Edge vs Sheamus match as Edge’s last match yet. Without any confirmation from the WWE side, it cannot be considered as his retirement match. However, WWE is said to have another show in Toronto later this year.
Edge last week
Last week on SmackDown Edge not only told about his desire to have a match with Sheamus before retirement. He also said that he is preparing for next year’s Royal Rumble. With all the speculations, Edge’s possible retirement on the upcoming episode of SmackDown in Toronto is less likely to occur.
Do you think Edge can push himself for one more year in WWE?
