WWE Rumors: CM Punk vs Stone Cold Steve Austin 'Dream Match' likely to happen

CM Punk made his surprise return at WWE Survivor Series after nine long years at the final moments of the show. His return generated a huge reaction from the WWE Universe all across the world and from the home crowd at Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois. Although the wrestling fans burst out in happy tears, it was reported that a lot of talents in the locker room had mixed reactions.

Seth Rollins, who was on the ringside showed that he is not happy on his return and most speculate that Seth could be his first feud. As everyone is focused on Punk’s first feud after return, most forgot the potential scrapped feud with Stone Cold Steve Austin. Now an optimistic report has been released on a potential match between Punk vs Austin.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that many within WWE are pushing the potential match between CM Punk and Stone Cold Steve Austin for future events. The sources believe that the match could actually happen and the plans are discussed with Punk.

A source reported to Fightful, that Punk had already pitched a few ideas to battle The Texas Rattlesnake, however they are not sure how deep and impactful the conversations went. The report also says that if everything goes well, Punk would travel to meet Austin, sit with him and discuss the possible matchup.

This could be a long time coming as CM Punk vs Stone Cold Steve Austin has been in discussions even before Punk left the company in 2014. Punk and Austin had a face-off backstage during the promotions of WWE 2K13, and was a talking point for a potential match at that time. 

Although Austin retired from his wrestling career, he returned to main event WrestleMania 38 Day 1, for a Street Fight match with Kevin Owens. The 58-year-old Ass kicking Beer truck still has a great shape and potential to stun his opponents. This could give us some hope, that Stone Cold Steve Austin would likely return to have one-more match against “The Straight Edge” CM Punk.
