Former champion ‘claims’ he changed the WWE business in 2011
Matt Cardona better known as Zack Ryder is one of the popular professional wrestlers, who wrestled for WWE for 14 years from 2006 to 2020. He was a four time champion in WWE, however was released from contract due to budget cuts in 2020. He went on to wrestle for the Independent circuits and has proven his abilities to be one of the undeniable wrestlers of the industry. Matt Cardona has now recalled his past and discussed his favorite year in WWE.

Matt Cardona on X replied to a fan’s question of “What was your favorite year of your career in WWE?”
To which Cardona said it was 2011, where he changed the business. He said that he will be credited for it when he’s dead. However he said that Zack Ryder is dead.
Cardona wrote,
“2011. I changed the business. I’ll get the credit when I’m dead. But wait…Zack Ryder is dead? Hmmm…”
Cardona in his previous interview with Chris Van Vliet during the Royal Rumble time said the same regarding Zack Ryder being dead and if he wishes to return to WWE, he would be returning as Matt Cardona.
Cardona on his previous tweet said,
“I say this all the time. This isn’t my Honky Tonk Man run. I wasn’t going to just tour the indies with the headband, the glasses, Woo Woo Woo. This is like my reinvention. This is my Hollywood Hogan run. If anything, but I knew I needed to change. I knew like Zack. Listen. so, so grateful for WWE. For Zack Ryder. That was my dream. I lived it. Highest of highs lowest of lows. I’m forever grateful for that time. It set me up for who I am today. But it’s over. Zack Ryder is dead. And if I ever want to go back to WWE if it was up to me, it’d be as Matt Cardona.”
