‘The Best in the World’ is looking to restructure his WWE contract
Only months after returning to WWE, CM Punk is reportedly attempting to restructure his contract with the company, stating that he wants to stay with WWE “forever.” When asked how long CM Punk’s WWE contract is, Ibou of WrestlePurists responded:
“I believe it’s three. I can tell you right now that he is in the process of trying to get his deal restructured from a money and years standpoint. Punk’s legitimate stance right now is if all goes well I will never leave. That’s his legitimate standpoint. He wants to be here forever is the actual word he used. He wants this to work out, he wants to get paid, and then he wants when it’s time to slow it down, to slow it down and just run NXT.”
CM Punk has been back with WWE since November 2023, returning in the last minutes of Survivor Series. He suffered a torn triceps in his first broadcast battle back in the men’s Royal Rumble, but he has continued to appear on WWE TV in a rivalry with Drew McIntyre, consistently costing ‘Irn Dru’ the World Heavyweight Championship.
Punk will return to the ring at SummerSlam, facing Drew McIntyre in a singles bout with Seth Rollins serving as special guest referee.
Drew McIntyre takes a shot at CM Punk
Drew McIntyre rushed to Twitter today to react to CM Punk’s new WWE t-shirt, which reads “Clobber McIntyre Punk.”
McIntyre criticized Punk for earlier stating that he would never put another man’s name on a t-shirt, referring to Punk’s “Hey, Colt Cabana.” “How are you doing?” is a sentence from his iconic pipebomb promotion.
McIntyre captioned his tweet, “‘I ain’t ever had to put another man’s name on a shirt to sell it.’ Ageing as well as ‘hey Colt Cabana how you doing?’”
Drew McIntyre and CM Punk will compete in WWE SummerSlam 2024, held at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio.
