With new year comes new expectations

2024 was a watershed moment for WWE in every way, with enormous changes occurring in all sections of the organization, both inside and outside of the ring. WWE is entering 2025 in a great position, with fans excited about what the future holds for the business, which should lead to some thrilling moments.

Certain events are predictable, but others are less so. Situations in and out of the ring that WWE may attempt to create may be deemed risky or implausible, but they all have the potential to occur.

7. Nick Aldis makes his in-ring return

Fans who are familiar with Nick Aldis’ work have been waiting eagerly for him to return to the ring for a bout since he first joined WWE. He’s had a spectacular career up to this point, and while he’s doing an excellent job as WWE SmackDown General Manager, he could provide much more.

Aldis is in excellent form. He has bonded with fans because of his aggressive attitude to becoming the GM, and he should wrestle again next year. From a plot standpoint, it would be simple to book him in that circumstance, and perhaps WWE would consider it.

6. WWE WrestleMania happens out of USA (announcement)

WWE WrestleMania will take place in Las Vegas in 2025, and it will be a major event for the organization. However, the site of the 2026 event will be announced at some time, and there is a significant probability it will be overseas.

WWE has lately begun to promote PLEs outside of the United States, and it is unclear when or if WWE WrestleMania will follow suit. London, England, appears to be the frontrunner for now, as reported on television, although Saudi Arabia is another likely possibility.

5. CM Punk wins world title

CM Punk may be closing out 2024 without a championship around his waist, but that doesn’t mean he can’t turn his fortunes around next year. WWE appears to have huge plans for The Voice of The Voiceless in terms of the world championship picture.

During a recent episode of Live Q&A on Backstage Pass, WrestleVotes revealed a huge update on WWE’s plans for CM Punk in 2025. The wrestling source said that the business intends to book The Best in the World in a world championship program next year.

Punk has previously said that his ambition is to win the world championship. But, for the time being, it appears that he wants to settle his business with Seth Rollins. When RAW premieres on Netflix on January 6, both guys will face off against one another.

4. Roman Reigns dosen’t hold any titles

For years, Roman Reigns has been the focus of WWE programming, redefining supremacy, winning unprecedented championships, and leading The Bloodline. His charisma, in-ring abilities, and imposing presence have solidified him as one of wrestling’s most intriguing personalities. As WWE enters 2025, the issue is to keep Reigns relevant while keeping the whole product fresh and compelling.

Following a historic 1,316-day reign as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Reigns’ status as a dominant force is well established. Giving him another championship reign so soon risks stifling emerging brilliance. WWE must give opponents like Kevin Owens and Drew McIntyre a chance to shine, ensuring that Reigns remains a fascinating presence but without undercutting the rising talents.

3. AJ Lee returns

Another notable comeback to the ring, AJ Lee’s, might be imminent. She hasn’t competed in WWE since her first stint ended, and fans have long wanted her to return. However, it appears to be the closest opportunity that has existed.

This has been a topic of discussion ever since CM Punk returned to wrestling. Now that he’s back in WWE and pleased, there appears to be a potential for her to return. WWE’s women’s division is a significant thing for Triple H, and introducing someone with Lee’s star power would be tremendous.

2. Cody Rhodes goes full Homelander

Cody Rhodes has been a heel in the past and demonstrated his abilities, but he’s been a total babyface since joining AEW. That carried throughout his WWE stint, and it has resulted in some outstanding work on his part, demonstrating that he is a true hit with viewers.

However, there is a chance that he will slip into the John Cena type of being a one-dimensional babyface. That is why he may turn heel in 2025 to spice up his character and provide fans with a fresh direction.

1. John Cena wins his 17th WWE World title

John Cena is scheduled to play a significant role in WWE’s 2025, which will be his retirement year. He intends to be committed full-time, which will require him to work several dates, including the majority of the industry’s major premium live events at a critical moment.

However, the last run should not be a fan service situation in which he plays a few dream matches before moving on. Instead, it needs to have a purpose, and having Cena shatter the record for the most World championship runs would do that while also creating some intriguing stories.
