India added six medals to its tally on Day 6
India enjoyed another productive day at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, adding six medals on Friday, September 25. The Indian contingent won one gold, two silver and three bronze medals across shooting, table tennis and athletics.
Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh won gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, while Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Rudrankksh Patil and Niraj Kumar secured silver in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions team event.

Table tennis pair Manush Shah and Diya Chitale added a bronze in mixed doubles, while athletics produced three more medals.
Gulveer Singh won silver in the men’s 10,000m, while Manpreet Kaur and Baranica Elangovan secured bronze in the women’s shot put and pole vault respectively.
India’s women’s cricket team had already won the country’s first gold medal earlier in the Games. Kamaljeet and Suruchi’s victory therefore took India’s gold medal tally to two.

India’s medal-winning campaign on Day 6 began in shooting, where Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh won gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. The Indian pair finished on top to claim India’s second gold medal of the Asian Games.
The men’s 50m rifle 3 positions team of Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Rudrankksh Patil and Niraj Kumar won silver, adding another medal for India in shooting.
India also returned to the podium in table tennis, where Manush Shah and Diya Chitale won bronze in mixed doubles. The Indian pair reached the semifinals, securing a medal in the process.
Athletics then produced three more medals for India.
Gulveer Singh won silver in the men’s 10,000m, clocking 28:29.38 to finish behind Bahrain’s Balew B. Manpreet Kaur won bronze in the women’s shot put with a best throw of 17.17m, while Baranica Elangovan secured a joint-bronze in the women’s pole vault after clearing 4.15m.
India’s kabaddi teams also made significant progress on Day 6. The men’s team defeated Thailand in the semi-final to book a place in the gold-medal match, while the women’s team defeated Nepal to reach the final. Both teams are now assured of at least silver medals.
In canoe sprint, Indian paddlers competed across several events, including the women’s kayak four 500m final. Dhanamanjuri Khwairakpam, Pooja, Soniya Devi Phairembam and Parvathy Geetha represented India in the event, finishing outside the medal positions. Indian paddlers also featured in other kayak and canoe events during the day.
India’s women’s hockey team continued its campaign with a 3-1 win over Japan, maintaining its strong run in the competition.
In squash, Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh progressed to the singles semi-finals. They will now be in action in the singles semi-finals on September 26, while India will also feature in the mixed doubles semif-inals, with the mixed doubles pair continuing its medal campaign.

In boxing, Sachin Siwach defeated Jordan’s Mohammad Adnan Abu Jajeh 4-1 to enter the men’s 60kg quarter-finals.
Preeti Pawar, however, bowed out in the women’s 54kg round of 16 after losing 0-5 to North Korea’s reigning Asian Games champion Pang Chol-mi.
In athletics, apart from the three medals, Kiran Pahal and Prachi Choudhary qualified for the women’s 400m final, while Vishal Thennarasu Kayalvizhi progressed to the men’s 400m final.
However, India’s men’s 100m campaign ended in the semi-finals, with Gurindervir Singh finishing fifth in 10.32s and Animesh Kujur seventh in 10.38s.
In the women’s heptathlon, Pooja finished sixth with 5,368 points, while Anamika finished eighth with 5,234 points. In the men’s hammer throw, Damneet Singh finished ninth with 67.56m, while Praveen Kumar finished 11th with 65.24m.
Asian Games 2026: Updated Indian medal tally after 25th September
India’s medal tally stands at 23 medals, comprising two gold, nine silver and 12 bronze medals, leaving them placed 12th in the overall medal standings.
The women’s cricket team and the Kamaljeet-Suruchi Singh pair have won India’s two gold medals so far. Shooting has won 10 medals, while the remaining medals have come from table tennis, cricket, weightlifting, MMA, soft tennis, badminton, wushu, rowing and athletics.

What to expect from the Indian contingent on 26th September?
India will have several major medal opportunities on Day 7, with kabaddi, shooting, canoe sprint, squash and athletics featuring confirmed medal events. India will also be in action across archery, boxing, fencing, surfing, table tennis, hockey and esports.
In kabaddi, both Indian teams will play for gold. The women’s team will face Iran at 9:30 AM, followed by the men’s final against Iran at 2:30 PM.
In shooting, Ashi Chouksey, Tilottama Sen and Vidarsa Kochalumkal Vinod will compete in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions team final, with the individual event also providing a medal opportunity.
Raju Rawat and Neha Devi Leichonbam will compete in the mixed canoe double 500m final, while other Indian paddlers will feature in semifinal events.

Athletics will have several medal events. Tajinderpal Singh Toor and Karanveer Singh will compete in the men’s shot put final, while Praveen Chithravel and Karthik Unnikrishnan will contest the men’s triple jump final.
Kiran Pahal and Prachi Choudhary will compete in the women’s 400m final, while Vishal Thennarasu will contest the men’s 400m final.
Pooja and Parul Chaudhary will feature in the women’s 1500m final, while Sawan Barwal and Kartik Karkera will compete in the men’s marathon.
In squash, Joshana Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar will play the mixed doubles semifinal, while Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh will contest their respective singles semifinals.
India will therefore have multiple opportunities to add to its 23-medal tally on Day 7.
