Kishore Jena finished 5th and produced a personal best mark at the World Championships
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday (August 28th) announced a reward of Rs. 25 lakh for Odisha’s javelin star, Kishore Kumar Jena, who became the first from the state to represent India at the Finals of the World Athletics Championships 2023 in Budapest. Kishore showcased remarkable prowess in Javelin throwing, achieving a commendable fifth-place finish.
He achieved a new personal best with a throw covering a distance of 84.77 meters, highlighting his exceptional performance on the global stage. Kishore’s participation is a remarkable feat for the athlete and a historic achievement in the sports history of Odisha.
Commending the indomitable spirit of Kishore Jena, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, “Kishore Jena’s remarkable journey and exceptional performance at the World Athletics Championships 2023 in Budapest have not only brought glory to our state and nation but also inspire many athletes for years to come”.
With sheer determination and unwavering spirit, the phenomenal track and field athlete from Odisha defied all odds and unleashed his extraordinary talent upon the world. In a magnificent display of strength and skill, he propelled himself into greatness, reaching an awe-inspiring distance of 84.77m, sending shockwaves through the arena. From the very beginning, he set the stage ablaze with a commanding throw of 75.70m, only to surpass himself in the second attempt with a staggering 82.82m.
Despite a minor setback in the third round, Kishore Kumar Jena refused to back down, clawing his way back to the top with an impressive throw of 80.19m in the fourth attempt. With each muscle fiber taut and every sinew flexed, he summoned his inner fire for one final mighty heave that unleashed his career-best, leaving spectators breathless and adversaries in awe.
Though his last attempt may have faltered, it was but a temporary blip in an otherwise triumphant journey. This remarkable athlete has proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that his name shall forever be etched in the annals of sporting history.
