Several players, including HS Prannoy, expressed their frustration on social media.
The BWF World Championships 2023 kicked off in Copenhagen, Denmark on August 21 where the World’s best shuttlers compete to clinch the coveted title. A few days ago, players participating in the competition have complained about transport snags that are eventually affecting their practice sessions.
Indian Ace shuttler HS Prannoy shared his experience on his Instagram handle by posting a picture in his story along with India’s support staff, trainer C. Kiran while playing a table shuffleboard game. He iterated, “When there is no transport available for practice sessions we are busy sharpening our skills in this game.”
Apart from HS Prannoy, players from Malaysia and Chinese Taipei also shared about the transport problem. Chinese Taipei’s shuttler Wang Tzu Wei also posted a picture on social media calling out the poor transport facilities she received on her way to the training session.
“Everyone waited in a queue for the shuttle bus that disappeared. A total of 55 minutes of Vitamin D supplementation,” she wrote in her post.
The prominent shuttler showed his skill by winning over Finland’s Kalle Koljonen on Monday to progress to round 2 of the BWF World Championships 2023.
Several players reported that their practice sessions are highly affected by the transportation snags and that hold high chances in their performances at the BWF World Championships 2023. Malaysian mixed doubles shuttler Shevon Lai Jemie shared in an interview with The Star Newspaper about the issues to and from the practice centers and practice courts.

The ace Malaysian shuttler said “Seriously and honestly, this is a terrible arrangement from the organiser for such a major event. We had to wait for almost an hour yesterday (on Thursday) for our hotel check-in because we did not have the hotel booking from the organiser.”
Shevon also complained about the absence of any person of contact, resulting in no proper assistance to the world-class shuttles.
