The inaugural season of the BWF Japan Masters 2023 is set to unfold in Kumamoto, Japan, running from November 14 to 19. Joining the BWF World Tour, the BWF Japan Masters is one of the nine prestigious BWF World Tour Super 500 events in 2023.
Kumamoto marks its debut as the host city and will continue to host the BWF Japan Masters for the upcoming four years, until 2026. Malaysia has fielded a strong team for this year’s competition, led by LEE Zii Jia and NG Tze Yong, ranked 11th and 8th, respectively, in the BWF World Tour rankings.

In his opening match, Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia faces a formidable challenge against Denmark’s Anders Antonsen, currently holding the 10th spot in the world rankings. Meanwhile, Malaysia’s NG Tze Yong is set to contend with Chinese Taipei’s WANG Tzu Wei, ranked 26th in the world.
Lee Zii Jia, fresh from recent victories at the Arctic Open and the Denmark Open, is determined to maintain his exceptional form at the Japan Masters 2023, aiming to accrue crucial points for the upcoming Paris Olympics.
