Commonwealth Games 2026 Day 6 Results: India secure historic gold-silver sweep in para-athletics, Murali Sreeshanker wins silver

India won three medals on Day 6, taking its total tally to 15 medals

India picked up one gold and two more silvers on Day 6 of the Commonwealth Games 2026. The country currently stands at No. 8 on the medal tally.

Murali Sreeshankar sealed silver in the men’s long jump final with a best leap of 8.09m, matching his Birmingham 2022 finish and giving India another podium finish in athletics.

Almost as significant was the story in para-athletics, where Dilip Mahadu Gavit stormed to gold in the men’s 100m T47 final in a Commonwealth Games record 10.71s, with compatriot Mohammed Basil M completing an Indian one-two by taking silver in 10.83s.

The boxers produced a flawless outing as all six fighters in action, including Sakshi Chaudhary, Jaismine Lamboria, Sachin Siwach, Arundhati Choudhary, Ankush Yadav and Narender Berwal, won their quarter-final bouts, guaranteeing themselves at least bronze and booking semi-final spots.

India’s swimming campaign, however, continued to disappoint. On the brighter side, the men’s lawn bowls pair duo registered their second consecutive win.

It was a good overall day in track and field and boxing for India, as the country now looks ahead to Day 7, when two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra will finally be back in action.
