On the athletics track at Scotstoun Stadium, distance runner Gulveer Singh etched his name into the record books by capturing the bronze medal in the men’s 5000m final with a time of 13:24.95, edging Kenya’s Cornelius Kemboi by 0.04 seconds.
Adding to his 10,000m silver medal won earlier in the week, Gulveer became the first Indian track-and-field athlete to win two distance-running medals at a single Commonwealth Games.
The field events provided further glory with a magnificent 1-2 finish in the Men’s Shot Put F57 Final, where Soman Rana bagged gold, and Shubham Juyal took silver, and a historic double podium in the Men’s Triple Jump Final, with Praveen Chithravel (silver) and Selva Prabhu Thirumaran (bronze). Judoka Unnati Sharma also contributed to the medal haul with a commendable bronze finish.
