Day 7 of the Commonwealth Games 2026 can give India five medals in athletics.

The sixth day of action at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow turned into an absolute masterclass for the Indian contingent, driven by an astounding double sweep in para-athletics, and boxing that guaranteed a massive haul of podium finishes.

Dilip Mahadu Gavit produced a sensational run to clinch gold in the men’s 100m T47, with Mohammed Basil joining him on the podium with a silver medal for India’s first 1-2 finish in a single event at CWG 2026.

Indian pugilists delivered a flawless quarter-final campaign, with Sakshi Choudhary (Women’s 51kg), Arundhati Choudhary (Women’s 70kg), Sachin Siwach (Men’s 60kg), Ankush Panghal (Men’s 80kg), and Narender Berwal (Men’s 90+kg) all charging into the semi-finals to assure India of at least five more medals on the canvas.

Murali Sreeshankar then successfully defended his silver in the men’s long jump final, with a best effort of 8.09m, following his silver-medal performance from four years ago in Birmingham. Compatriot Lokesh Sathyanathan finished fifth in the same event, with a best leap of 7.97m.

On the track, Animesh Kujur produced a sensational season-best run of 20.46 seconds to win his men’s 200m heat, outpacing reigning 100m champion Emmanuel Eseme to qualify comfortably for the semi-finals.

Over on the rinks, Navneet Singh and Dinesh Kumar kept their unbeaten streak alive in the men’s Pairs with a convincing 2-0 victory over Namibia, while para swimmers Suyash Jadhav and Chaitanya Vishwas Kulkarni both punched their tickets to the Men’s 50m Freestyle S7 final.

Transitioning into Thursday, July 30 (Day 7), the Indian campaign shifts into overdrive with high-intensity qualification rounds and gruelling multi-event disciplines.

Athletics takes centre stage early as Asian Games champion Neeraj Chopra makes his highly anticipated Glasgow debut alongside Rohit Yadav and Yashvir Singh in the men’s javelin throw qualification Group A.

On the track, Vishal TK lines up in Heat 1 of the men’s 400m semi-finals, while Animesh Kujur returns for Heat 2 of the men’s 200m semi-finals.

Field events feature Selva Prabhu and Praveen Chithravel opening their triple jump campaigns in Qualification Group A.

Meanwhile, decathlete Tejaswin Shankar embarks on a demanding ten-event marathon, opening his day across the 100m sprint, long jump, shot put, high jump, and 400m.

Over at the velodrome, Lisha Das launches India’s cycling program in the women’s C4-C5 individual pursuit qualifying, while David Beckham, Ronaldo Singh, and Jemsh Singh line up in the men’s team sprint qualifying.

On the rinks, lawn bowlers Navneet Singh and Dinesh Kumar meet Botswana in the men’s pairs, while Nayonmani Saikia engages Malaysia in women’s singles play.

On the weightlifting platform, heavyweights take centre stage as Martina Devi enters the Women’s 86+ kg Final in the afternoon, followed by Lovepreet Singh hunting podium honours in the Men’s 110+ kg Final during the evening session.

Athletics – Tajinderpal Singh Toor, Samardeep Singh Gill, Seema Punia, Nidhi Rani, Parul Chaudhary

In track and field finals, Asian Games gold medalist Tajinderpal Singh Toor and Samardeep Singh Gill launch their throws in the men’s shot put final, while veteran campaigner Seema Kaliramna and Nidhi Rani target the podium in the women’s discus throw final.

Over on the distance track, Parul Chaudhary lines up against top East African and Commonwealth competition in the Women’s 5000m Final.
