1166 players register for IPL 2024 auction, Shardul Thakur sets base price of 2 crores; No Jofra Archer

IPL 2024 auction will take place outside India for the first time in history.
The upcoming IPL 2024 auction will be held in Dubai on 19th December. IPL franchises have already released their retention list with a few surprises. With the trading window still on, a few big trades have also taken place in the last few weeks. Now 1166 players are ready to go under the hammer in the upcoming auction set to take place in Dubai. For the first time in the history of the IPL, the auction will take place outside India.
IPL 2024 auction will witness a maximum weightage being given to the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 performance. Top World Cup performers like Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Starc, Travis Head, Pat Cummins, Daryl Mitchell, Josh Hazlewood, and a few others have given their names for the IPL 2024 auction. Josh Hazlewood’s participation in the league is still doubtful as the pacer is expecting a baby with his partner during March-April 2024.
830 Indian and 336 Overseas names registered for IPL 2024 auction
A total of 1166 players have registered their names for the upcoming IPL 2024 auction and out of the registered, 830 are Indian players and 336 are overseas. The list includes 212 capped, 909 uncapped, and 45 associate players Out of 830 Indian names, only 18 are capped. Umesh Yadav, Shardul Thakur Harshal Patel, Kedar Jadhav, KS Bharat, Jaydev Unadkat, Shivam Mavi, Karun Nair, and Manish Pandey are the few names of capped Indian players.
Umesh Yadav, Harshal Patel, Shardul Thakur, and Kedar Jadhav have set their base price at 2 crore rupees. All the other remaining Indian capped players have put their base price at 50 lakh rupees. In a big miss, Jofra Archer will be missing the upcoming auction as he has not registered his name for the upcoming auction. From England, World Cup team members like Adil Rashid, Dawid Malan, and Harry Brook have registered their names for the auction.
Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Starc, and Travis Head can get a huge deal backing their recent World Cup performances. Rachin Ravindra scored 578 runs in 10 innings and picked up 5 wickets for Kiwis. Travis Head played a magical knock of 137 runs in the final to win the World Cup for Australia. These two will be the ones every franchise will be looking to fix in their camp. Chennai Super Kings are the defending champions of the IPL.
