Jasprit Bumrah was rested for the fourth IND vs ENG, while KL Rahul has been out of action after the first test.
India took command of the five-match test series against England in Ranchi, winning the fourth test match. They have already secured the series 3-1 with one match to go. India won by five wickets thanks to an outstanding 72-run stand between Shubman Gill and Dhruv Jurel in the fourth innings. India persisted in their quest for victory despite being faced with a tricky target of 192 runs in the fourth innings.
Even though they were down 120-5 at one stage, India showed incredible fighting spirit. The unbreakable partnership between Gill (52 runs) and Jurel (39 runs) propelled their side to an extraordinary victory on the fifth day of the test. Even though England’s youthful spinner Shoaib Bashir was a constant danger and took three vital wickets, India’s determination was unwavering.
The unfaltering resolve of India was on display in the partnership of Gill and Jurel. Both of them played out of their skins to chase the total. They were a symbol of this young team’s power and solidarity. Their coordinated efforts helped to steady the pursuit. This victory gave India the series win, erasing any possibility of a comeback by the visitors. India and England will play the final match of this test series at Dharamsala.
Jasprit Bumrah, reigning as the world’s top-ranked ICC test bowler, proved his mettle once more in the ongoing series. Across the first three matches, his performance remained stellar, consistently providing crucial breakthroughs for India when they faced adversity. With a staggering tally of 17 wickets in the series, Bumrah’s impact has been undeniable.
However, recognising the importance of managing his workload amidst a demanding schedule, the team opted to rest him for the fourth test in Ranchi. This strategic decision displays Bumrah’s indispensability to the team’s success and emphasises the need to preserve his form and fitness for forthcoming challenges. Bumrah’s absence in Ranchi serves as proof of the team’s long-term planning and commitment to maintaining peak performance levels.
IND vs ENG: Jasprit Bumrah will play in Dharamshala; KL Rahul ruled out
According to recent reports from Cricbuzz, Jasprit Bumrah is set to make a return in the upcoming fifth test match in Dharamshala, marking his comeback to the Indian squad. Meanwhile, there’s a significant development regarding KL Rahul’s fitness evaluation by the BCCI and the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Despite being deemed 90 percent fit for the third test in Rajkot in mid-February, Rahul’s complete recovery remains elusive.
He has been undergoing therapy for approximately a week following a transfer abroad for expert assessment, possibly in London. Rahul’s troubles traced back to last year, when he underwent surgery for discomfort in his right quadriceps. The cautious approach from the BCCI, selectors, and team management stems from Rahul’s pivotal role within the squad and his versatility across various positions. Despite his efforts, stiffness persists, reportedly ruling him out of contention for the final test match.
