Kerala Blasters, Mumbai City players dominate ISL 2022-23 Team of the Week for GW9

The league saw plenty of sensational individual performances over the past round of matches.
There was a lot of entertaining football during gameweek nine of the 2022-23 season of the Indian Super League (ISL). Among the results, Hyderabad FC’s convincing win over Chennaiyin FC and Mumbai City's domination of FC Goa were notable.
Kerala Blasters also won against a struggling Jamshedpur FC that has lost five games in a row. A glance at the past week brings forth several players, both Indian and foreign, who were impressive in their performances.
Here is a look at Khel Now’s Team of The Week for gameweek nine of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23:
Goalkeeper: Dheeraj Singh (FC Goa)
Yes, FC Goa lost 4-1 against Mumbai City, however, a large credit for the manner of defeat went to individual errors from defenders. If not for Dheeraj’s six saves, three catches and two punches, the number of goals MCFC scored would have been a lot more. He was the difference between a defeat and a humiliating defeat.
Right-back: Sandeep Singh (Kerala Blasters)
The full-back was solid once again for Kerala Blasters. He played a integral role in securing a clean sheet against Jamshedpur FC. He had 74 touches, two clearances, and two interceptions. If he keeps up his performances, he would be a key factor for the Yellow Army going ahead in the ISL 2022-23 season.
Centre-back: Marko Leskovic (Kerala Blasters)
Marko Leskovic was the pick of the defenders for Kerala Blasters in their 1-0 win over Jamshedpur FC. The centre-back won the Man of the Match award as well. He had 86 touches on the ball and made three clearances.
Centre-back: Chinglensana Singh (Hyderabad FC)
Chinglensana Singh was a top performer for Hyderabad FC in their 3-1 win over Chennaiyin FC. He scored a goal and was defensively solid. The centre-back made five clearances to keep CFC’s attacking threats at bay.
Left-back: Subhasish Bose (ATK Mohun Bagan)
Subhasish Bose continued his strong start to the season for ATK Mohun Bagan. The full-back was instrumental in keeping a clean sheet against Bengaluru FC in a 1-0 win away from home. He made seven tackles, two clearances and had 71 touches on the ball. Furthermore, he created a scoring chance too.
Right midfielder: Lallianzuala Chhangte (Mumbai City)
Lallianzuala Chhangte scored for Mumbai City in their 4-1 win over FC Goa. The winger is in good goal-scoring touch this year, delivering his fourth goal of the season. Apart from the goal, Chhangte made an assist and registered two shots on target.
Central midfielder: Jeakson Singh (Kerala Blasters)
Jeakson Singh delivered a strong performance for Kerala Blasters. The midfielder had a whopping 105 touches on the ball as he kept the ball moving for the Yellow Army. He completed 83 passes with an 86% success rate.
Attacking midfielder: Iker Guarrotxena (FC Goa)
Iker Guarrotxena was one of the few FC Goa players who were hungry to win against Mumbai City. He scored the only goal of the game for the Gaurs and got in good positions to add more. Statistically, the attacking midfielder glanced four shots and two of them were on target.
Central midfielder: Saul Crespo (Odisha FC)
Saul Crespo won the Man of the Match award in Odisha FC’s 2-1 win over NorthEast United. The midfielder had 96 touches on the ball. He also made one assist for the team and had three clearances with two interceptions in a brilliant overall display.
Left midfielder: Halicharan Narzary (Hyderabad FC)
Halicharan Narzary scored an absolutely fabulous goal from long-range for Hyderabad FC in their 3-1 win over Chennaiyin FC. The winger is showing improvement in his performances in ISL 2022-23 and his contribution was vital for the Nizams in the victory. Apart from the goal, he also created two chances for his team.
Striker: Jorge Pereyra Diaz (Mumbai City)
Jorge Pereyra Diaz was fantastic for Mumbai City in their FC Goa triumph. The striker scored an impressive brace to help the Islanders secure a dominant win over the Gaurs. He has six goals in nine appearances this year and at the moment, leads the race for the Golden Boot award.
