Many legendary figures of the game have played extensively in the league competition

Since the inauguration of the Women's Super League, four separate clubs have won the title of the Women's Super League so far.

The Women's Super League division has produced some of the best players in English and international football, including World Cup champions and record-breaking goal scorers.

But which footballer has the most appearances in the WSL? The top appearances makers in the Barclays Women's Super League history are listed below.

5. Sophie Ingle: 172

2012 saw Sophie Ingle join Chelsea for the first time. She later left to join Bristol Academy and then Liverpool.

The midfielder returned to the Blues in 2018, and since then, he has played a crucial role in the team's three consecutive WSL championships. Her incredible goal over Arsenal in 2020 garnered a Puskas Award nomination.

4. Jill Scott: 175

Before her retirement in 2022, Jill Scott made 175 WSL outings over stints with Everton, Manchester City, and Aston Villa.

The England centurion was a crucial member of the City squad that captured their first WSL championship in 2016 before winning a rare I'm a Celebrity and European Championship double in 2022.

3. Gilly Flaherty: 177

In April 2011, Gilly Flaherty seemed to have the distinction of scoring the WSL's inaugural goal, which was the winning goal for Arsenal versus Chelsea. The central defender went on to win two consecutive WSL championships with the former before switching to the latter in 2014, where she won two more league championships.

In 2018, Flaherty moved from Chelsea to West Ham, where he served as the team's captain for their inaugural WSL campaign. She began playing for Liverpool in the summer of 2022, and in January of the following year, she announced her retirement.

2. Kate Longhurst: 177

In 2011, Kate Longhurst commenced her WSL tenure with Chelsea, and in 2013, she shifted to Liverpool. The dynamic Colchester United academy graduate won back-to-back WSL championships with the Reds before leaving in 2018 for West Ham, the side she grew up supporting.

1. Kerys Harrop: 178

Before moving to Tottenham in 2020, Kerys Harrop had played for Birmingham for the initial nine years of her career, making her a one-club lady.

Harrop, who could play at both centre defence and full back, was a key figure in Birmingham's golden era of women's football, lifting the FA Cup in 2012, making it to the quarterfinals of the Champions League in 2014, and coming close to winning the WSL the same year.
