Delhi Soccer Association suspends Ahbab FC with immediate effect

The suspension of Ahbab FC, one of the league’s participating teams, has been implemented with immediate effect, pending a thorough investigation into the concerning incident.
The controversy unfolded during a recent match between Ahbab FC and Rangers in the Delhi Premier League when two own goals were scored by Ahbab FC in the closing stages of the game. These events sparked suspicions among spectators and officials, leading to heightened scrutiny and widespread concern within the Indian football community. The matter gained momentum as the footage of the suspicious goals circulated on various social media platforms, swiftly going viral and prompting public outcry.
Indian football president Kalyan Chaubey expressed his apprehensions on Twitter (X), acknowledging the seriousness of the situation. He stated, “We’ve been made aware of videos circulating on SM, raising serious suspicion on Delhi Premier League. Prima facie, it’s very concerning.” Chaubey further emphasised ongoing efforts to combat such instances within Indian football, affirming a commitment to the integrity of the sport.
Responding promptly to the growing scrutiny and public outcry, Football Delhi took swift action to suspend Ahbab FC from participating in the league until a comprehensive investigation is conducted. The DSA has assured stakeholders and fans that the investigation will be thorough and impartial, aiming to uncover the truth behind the allegations and restore confidence in the league’s integrity.
