The Highlanders suffered their first loss of the season against Mumbai City FC…
NorthEat United suffered their first defeat of the season as they went down 1-0 to Mumbai City FC at the Mumbai Football Arena yesterday. Despite the loss Head Coach Nelo Vingada was upbeat when he met the press after the final whistle. “Today was a very hard and intense game especially for us as it was our third game in six days. To be honest, I was expecting more difficulties for our side. I must congratulate Mumbai City FC because they won. One mistake was we gave Mumbai City FC the penalty in a very easy situation. Of all the other things, I believe that we are building a good team with very good organization,” he asserted. Mumbai scored the game’s only goal through skipper Diego Forlan from the penalty spot and Vingada accepted it was a soft penalty to concede saying that his back four missed not one but three chances to clear their lines. The Portuguese also indicated that he felt his team played better on the night and deserved something out of the game. “If you look at the opportunities, the chances to score, I feel we were better. But, that doesn’t matter because the score was 0 to us and 1 to Mumbai. But, it happens. This is football. I believe playing this way we are going in the right direction.” he explained. The former Maritimo boss admitted he had to give the Uruguayan star special attention in the lead up to the game. Centre-back Mailson Alves did not feature in the contest after picking a knock against FC Goa. marquee signing Didier Zokorora deputised for him at the back and his manager said he was pleased with the Ivory Coast international’s overall contribution.
