Clubs begin rebuild as clarity comes around ISL 2026-27

All the clubs start their preparation with the summer transfer window as the clouds of despair around the Indian Super League (ISL) 2026-27 season finally seems to clear. 14 teams including the newly promoted Diamond Harbour FC who won the IFL 2025-26 are set to take part in the upcoming ISL season. Several clubs are already very active while some clubs are yet to make a move in the summer transfer window.

Ahead of the new season, there are departures, extensions and arrivals for the ISL clubs as they start the rebuild.

In this article we take a look at the transfers that have been completed so far in the summer transfer window ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Mohun Bagan SG

Arrivals: Dejan Drazic, Lallianzuala Chhangte, Samir Zeljkovic, Miguel Figueira, Rahul Bheke, Sayan Banerjee, Alex Saji

The Mariners have been the most active clubs in the summer transfer window after losing the ISL 2025-26 title to their archrivals East Bengal FC. The clubs announced the appointment of former Punjab FC head coach Panagiotis Dilmperis after the departure of Sergio Lobera from the club.

Mohun Bagan SG have acquired two players from East Bengal FC. The Mariners acquired the Torchbearers’ best player Miguel Figueira and also a young talent Sayan Banerjee. They have also acquired the services of Dejan Drazic and Samir Zeljkovic from FC Goa and Punjab FC respectively to improve their foreign contingent.

The Mariners also made one of the biggest signings by signing Chhangte from Mumbai City FC which involved heavy money. Along with that, they have also bolstered their defense by signing the experienced Rahul Bheke from Bengaluru FC.

Mohun Bagan SG have further continued their busy summer by completing the signing of Sporting Club Delhi captain Alex Saji on a three-year deal.

The departures for the Mariners include Dimitri Petratos, Glan Martins, Amey Ranawade and Tom Aldred. Petratos after spending some memorable seasons with the Mariners bid adieu to the club as they move away from the forward.

East Bengal FC

Arrivals: Boris Singh, Danish Farooq, Dani Ramirez, Nacho Monsalve, Nsungusi Effiong, Chris Ikonomidis

Departures: Miguel Figueira, Youssef Ezzejjari, Sayan Banerjee, Provat Lakra, Mark Zothanpuia

East Bengal FC signs Boris Singh and Danish Farooq ahead of the new season

The ISL 2025-26 champions East Bengal FC begin their quest in the summer transfer window as they acquire the likes of Indian players like Boris Singh and Danish Farooq. A familiar face also returns to Kolkata as East Bengal FC appoint Antonio Lopez Habas following the departure of Oscar Bruzon.

The Torchbearers have also completed the signing of Nacho Monsalve on a one-year deal ahead of the new season. Nacho, who became champion with FC Twente in 2019, has signed with Indian club East Bengal FC.

However, the club have been hit with some major departures. Key players from the trophy winning campaign Miguel Figueira who won the golden ball and Youssef Ezzejjari who won the golden boot leave the club ahead of the upcoming season. Provat Lakra has also left the club to join Jamshedpur FC. Mark Zothanpuia who played for Jamshedpur FC last season on loan has also left East Bengal to join NorthEast United.

The Torchbearers have made a statement signing as they have acquired the services of Nigerian striker Nsungusi Effiong from Punjab FC. They have also signed Dani Ramirez from Punjab FC and have added Chris Ikonomidis to their squad.

A new Australian forward, Chris Ikonomidis, has agreed to join defending ISL champions East Bengal FC ahead of the new season, as his inclusion will be a major boost for the Red & Gold Brigade. The Atalanta Youth product is set to wear the Red & Gold jersey after landing in Kolkata today, and the whole Moshal Brigade is really excited to welcome their new foreigner.

Mumbai City FC

Arrivals: Muhammed Ajsal, Ashish Sibi

Departures: Lallianzuala Chhangte, Phurba Lachenpa, Ayush Chhikara, Sanjeev Stalin, Halen Nongtdu, Seilenthang Lotjem, Nuno Reis

The Islanders have been struggling financially since the departure of City Football Group from the club’s investment. Mumbai City FC have extended Vikram Partap’s contract for two years keeping him at the club till 2028. Along with this they have extended the contract of their goalkeeper Ahan Prakash until the summer of 2028.

Sahil Panwar also stays at the club for 2 years until the summer of 2028.

They have signed Muhammed Ajsal from Kerala Blasters FC and Ashish Sibi from Dempo.

However, the club have let go of two of their key players, Chhangte and Phurba Lachenpa. Chhangte leaves the club to join Mohun Bagan SG for a big transfer fee which can perhaps help the Islanders start their activity in the market.

For Phurba, he is yet to join a club but have already attracted offers from ISL clubs.

The Islanders have also let go of four Indian players Ayush Chhikara, Sanjeev Stalin, Halen Nongtdu and Seilenthang Lotjem from the club. Along with this Nuno Reis has also left the club to join Chennaiyin FC ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Bengaluru FC

Arrivals: Borja Martinez, Sandro Embalo, Manuel de Iriondo

Departures: Rahul Bheke, Braian Sanchez, Siroj Kuziev, Namgyal Bhutia

Extensions: Harsh Palande, Sunil Chhetri

Bengaluru FC let go of multiple players like Rahul Bheke, Braian Sanchez, Siroj Kuziev, Namgyal Bhutia

The Blues from Bengaluru make their first move in the summer transfer window as they acquire the services of Spanish player, Borja Martinez, who joins the club on a one-year contract. Along with this they have also acquired the services of Portuguese defender Sandro Embalo till the end of the 2026-27 season.

An experienced player has joined the squad ahead of the new season for the Blues as they have just signed a 33-year-old Argentine midfielder, Manuel de Iriondo, from Krasava ENY. A proper defensive midfield option who can play like an anchor man and can dictate the tempo of the team with his passing ability and game reading.

They have also extended the contract of defender Harsh Palande who is set to remain at the club until the end of 2028-29 season.

The Blues have also extended the contract of their club captain Sunil Chhetri for one more year.

However, the club have announced the departure of multiple players which includes Rahul Bheke, Namgyal Bhutia, Braian Sanchez and Siroj Kuziev.

Jamshedpur FC

Arrivals: Aman CK, Devendra Murgaokar, Abhishek Ambekar, Raynier Fernandes, Leewan Castanha, Provart Lakra

Jamshedpur FC are yet to announce any departures but have acquired the services of Indian players like Aman CK, Devendra Murgaokar, Abhishek Ambekar Raynier Fernandes, Provart Lakra and Leewan Castanha. The club have also extended the contract of Sarthak Golui.

Punjab FC

Arrivals: Alfred Planas Moya, Mohammad Inam, Gurkirat Singh, Nishchal Chandan

Departures: Samir Zeljkovic, Bede Osuji, Pramveer Singh, Dani Ramirez, Ranjeet Pandre, Nsungusi Effiong

Punjab FC have roped in Alfred Planas Moya and Mohammad Inam

Punjab FC have been very active in the transfer window. Whether that includes arrivals, departures or contract extensions. The Shers had to part ways with Panagiotis Dilmperis after the head coach decided to join Mohun Bagan SG. Following the Greek head coach, Samir Zeljkovic also left Punjab FC to join Mohun Bagan SG.

Other major departures include, Pramveer Singh, Bede Osuji, Dani Ramirez, Nsungusi Effiong and Ranjeet Pandre. The Shers have managed to sign Alfred Planas Moya and Nishchal Chandan from Inter Kashi FC and also acquired the services of Mohammad Inam from Real Kashmir. Along with this Indian forward Gurkirat Singh has also joined the Shers ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Arshdeep Singh, Nikhil Prabhu and Lhungdim extended their contracts with the Shers which will keep them at the club for a couple of seasons.

FC Goa

Arrivals: Rudra Ved Moola, Alex Vallejo, Francisco Feuillassier, Isak Ralte, Alex Zalaya, Christian ‘Chiki’ Isabel, Tomba Singh, Saveme Tariang, Isak Ralte, KC Malsawmsanga

FC Goa, one of the finest teams in the league have not been very majorly active in player signings. However, there are players who have departed the club and joined different clubs for a new challenge.

The Gaurs acquired the services of Rudra Ved Moola from Shillong Lajong FC, Franchu from Kerala Blasters FC and the Spaniard Alex Vallejo. Along with this, they have added Tomba Singh and Saveme Tariang to their squad

FC Goa have also formally completed the signing of 28-year-old Spanish defender Álex Zalaya ahead of the 2026-27 season. Along with Zalaya, joins his former teammate Christian ‘Chiki’ Isabel, becoming the fourth foreign signing for the Gaurs following the signings of Alex Vallejo, Francisco Feuillassier and Alex Zalaya.

Along with them, they have also signed Isak Ralte, a promising left-wing option from Odisha FC, ahead of the new season, as his inclusion will add squad depth to the Gaurs.

Key players such as Dejan Drazic, Brison Fernandes, Boris Singh, Abdul Rabeeh, Ayush Chhetri, Sahil Tavora and Pol Moreno have bid adieu to the club. Along with this their head coach Manolo Marquez also have parted ways with the Gaurs.

The Gaurs have acquired the services of Isak Ralte from Odisha FC and have extended the contract of captain Sandesh Jhingan.

Kerala Blasters FC

The club with the biggest fan following in India are currently at a very bad place right now as there are still no clarity regarding the club’s future.

There are no moves from Kerala Blasters as of yet, Adrian Luna returns from loan, but will he continue? that remains the big question. There is also no clarity on any contract extensions and only two departures can be confirmed which include Muhammed Sheer, Nihal Sudeesh, Danish Farooq, Sachin Suresh, Muhammed Ajsal and Francisco Feuillassier

NorthEast United FC

The Highlanders begin their activity in the summer transfer market and have been very smart so far with the acquisitions. NorthEast United managed to sign an upcoming star, Pramveer Singh, from Punjab FC, with multiple clubs behind him, including Mohun Bagan SG. They also acquired the services of Abdul Rabeeh from FC Goa and India U-23 goalkeeper Mohanraj, making signings that are a clear indication of investment for the future. Mark Zothanpuia also have joined NorthEast United FC from East Bengal FC after having played for Jamshedpur FC on loan last season.

With the signing, they have also signed a one-year contract with a Spanish striker, Ethyan González, ahead of the new season, as he might play from the bench, and Alaaeddine Ajaraie could be the main man for the goals. But his signing looks very exciting in terms of squad depth, as the upcoming ISL season will be very long as usual.

The Highlanders have also roped in former Diamond Harbour FC midfielder Antonio Moyano who becomes the third foreign player in the squad.

NorthEast United FC have also completed the signing of Spanish centre-back Eneko Satrústegui Plano on a one-year deal.

NorthEast United FC have announced the newest signing ahead of the new ISL 2026-27 season, which could strengthen their squad with creativity, as they have signed Serbian playmaker Nikola Ninković on a one-year deal from Sumgayit FK.

The Highlanders have also extended the contracts of key Indian players, Asheer Akhtar, Dipesh Chauhan and Robin Yadav keeping them at the club for a couple of seasons.

The departures include majorly foreign contingent involving, Zabaco, Andy and Jairo. The club have also let go of Thoi Singh.

Inter Kashi FC

Arrivals: NA

There are no transfer activity regarding Inter Kashi FC. The confirmed one is the departure of Alfred Planas Moya who joined Punjab FC and Tomba Singh who joined FC Goa. Nishchal Chandan has also left Inter Kashi FC to join Punjab FC ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Odisha FC

Odisha FC have roped in Nihal Sudeesh and Imran Khan from Kerala Blasters and Chennaiyin FC respectively, but Hugo Boumous, Carlos Delgado and Isak Ralte departs the club.

They have also signed Sachin Suresh from Kerala Blasters FC. Along with this they also have acquired the services of Aashir Salim who previously played for Qatari top tier club, Al-Sailiya SC.

Odisha FC have continued their busy summer transfer window as they have now roped in another youngster, Arjun MM, from Kerala on a three-year long-term deal. Along with this, they have also managed to rope in Nandhakumar Sekar ahead of this season.

SC Delhi

SC Delhi announce the contract extensions of Mohammed Aimen, Mohammed Azhar, Nora Fernandes and Gogou

SC Delhi have signed their first two foreign signings ahead of the new ISL season. SC Delhi roped in Burundian international David Richard Ndayishimiye, who is a young midfielder and could play an important role for the Capital club in the ISL 2026-27 season.

He joined SC Delhi from Rwandan Premier League side Rayon Sports. And they have also signed Colombian defender Duván Viáfara.

The capital club have secured the services of Diamond Singh, Irengbam Newtan, Kamgouhao Doungel and Ringsangmi Lungharwo, continuing their long-term investment in youth as preparations gather pace for the new campaign.

Irengbam Newtan, Kamgouhao Doungel and Ringsangmi Lungharwo have been loaned out, meanwhile Diamond Singh trains with the first team.

However, they have extended the contracts of Mohammed Aimen, Mohammed Azhar, Nora Fernandes, Ashutosh Mehta and Gogou. The contract of striker Joseph Sunny has also been extended.

They have also acquired the services of India U-23 captain Lalrinliana Hnamte from Chennaiyin FC.

A Brazilian flair in the Indian Super League for SC Delhi as the Capital club signed Rodriguinho ahead of their Durand Cup 2026 campaign and also for the ISL 2026-27 season. The 23 year old left winger from Brazil, who played for different Brazilian clubs like Fortaleza, Cruzeiro & Ceará SC, is now set to play for SC Delhi in the next season.

Club captain Alex Saji has left the club to join Kolkata Giants Mohun Bagan SG ahead of the 2026-27 season.

SC Delhi have also let go of Julio Rivas, Muhammed Rafi, Karanjit Singh, Abdul Hudu, Devendra Murgaokar, Ousmane Fane, Isaac and Ebenezer Amoh.

Chennaiyin FC

Arrivals: Brison Fernandes, Ayush Chhetri, Nuno Reis, Glan Martins, Namgyal Bhutia, Nikola Stojanović, Muhammed Saheef, Bryce Miranda

The Marina Machans have acquired the services of Brison Fernandes and Ayush Chhetri from FC Goa and head coach Clifford Miranda is set to continue with them, along with the signing of Muhammed Saheef from Kerala Blasters.

Along with this, the club welcomed midfielder Glan Martins and Namgyal Bhutia ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Chennaiyin FC have announced the signing Nikola Stojanović, Muhammed Saheef, Bryce Miranda ahead of the new ISL season.

Imran Khan, Mandar Rao Desai, Alberto Noguera, Gurkirat Singh, Elsinho, Jitendra Singh, Mohammed Ali Bemammer, Inigo Martin, Chima Chuwku, Laldinliana Renthlei, Lalrinliana Hnamte and Eduardo Santos departs the club.

They have also extended the contracts of Maheson Singh, Prakadeswaran, and Klusner John Manuel Pereira.

Nuno Reis has agreed a one-year contract with the Marina Machans after leaving Mumbai City FC at the end of last season.
