Super Cup 2025: Team of The Tournament ft. Anwar Ali, Ryan Williams

A squad of 11 players who shone for their clubs during the AIFF Super Cup 2025 tournament.
The AIFF Super Cup 2025, the nation’s premier club football knockout tournament, has ended. After several standout performances from various players in the tournament, FC Goa defended their title, winning their second consecutive Super Cup crown following a 6-5 penalty shootout win against East Bengal FC.
The Goa-based outfit won the high-stakes game after Sahil Tavora drove home the decisive penalty. It was heartbreak for East Bengal FC in the Final with winger PV Vishnu missing his chance from the spot, setting the stage for the Gaurs to send the Fatorda Stadium into raptures.
Khel Now has prepared a list of eleven players and created the Team of the Tournament. A list featuring both Indian and foreign players who balled out for their clubs on the football pitch during the prestigious knockout competition.
GK: Hrithik Tiwari (FC Goa)

Anchoring the team in goal is FC Goa’s Hrithik Tiwari, whose three clean sheets in four matches showcased sharp reflexes and excellent command of his area. His distribution under pressure played a crucial role in Goa’s control-heavy approach.
The shot stopper played a crucial role during the penalty shootout in the final and helped his team beat East Bengal FC at the Fatorda Stadium.
RB: Mohammad Rakip (East Bengal FC)
On the right, East Bengal FC’s Mohammad Rakip will be one of the anchors in the back line, helping his team keep three clean sheets and contributing to steady buildup play.
Rakip formed a solid foundation for the Torchbearers in big games and was unlucky on the night to find himself on the losing side on Sunday.
CB: Anwar Ali (East Bengal FC)
At center back, East Bengal FC’s Anwar Ali delivered leadership and composure, registering three clean sheets in five outings in the AIFF Super Cup.
Ali excelled in aerial duels and was able to make tackles in big matches, which relieved the pressure on the team’s attackers and kept them high up the field.
CB: Bijoy Varghese (Punjab FC)
Alongside him, Punjab FC‘s Bijoy V, with three clean sheets in four matches, provided physicality and intelligent positioning, effectively neutralizing central threats.
The 25-year-old centre back has been an indispensable part of the team during the competition and eases issues for head coach Panagiotis Dilmperis.
LB: Aakash Sangwan (FC Goa)

Flanking the defense, Aakash Sangwan at left back mirrored his goalkeeper’s reliability with three clean sheets in four games, combining defensive discipline with overlapping support on the left.
Sangwan has had many doubters in recent times, but Marquez continues to choose the 30-year-old left-back, with the player continuing to repay the coach’s faith.

CM: Chema Núñez (NorthEast United FC)
NorthEast United FC’s Chema Núñez, with two goals and one assist in just three matches, added creativity and shooting prowess as a central engine.
Núñez rose to the occasion for a potential NorthEast United FC side who looked unbeatable at times during games. The 28-year-old Spaniard was key for Juan Pedro Benali’s side in midfield and dictated the terms for his side against opponents.
CM: Naorem Mahesh Singh (East Bengal FC)
In midfield, East Bengal’s Naorem Mahesh Singh impressed as a dual-threat creator. The Torchbearers star produced one goal and three assists in five games while dictating transitions with his dribbling and vision.
Coach Bino George substituted the midfielder in the 64th minute in the Final, which raised eyebrows, but Mahesh Singh was a key figure for his side throughout the tournament.
CAM: Dejan Drazic (FC Goa)

Ahead of the midfield pair, FC Goa’s Dejan Drazic excelled in the attacking midfield role, offering two goals and one assist in four games.
His incisive movement between defensive lines and ability to attack from the midfield areas were assets for Manolo Marquez’s men throughout the tournament.
RW: Ryan Williams (Bengaluru FC)
On the wings, Bengaluru FC’s Ryan Williams stood out on the right, posting two goals and one assist in three fixtures.
His ability to directly run at the defenders and sharp end product was key for the Blues during the AIFF Super Cup campaign.
ST: Koldo Obieta (Kerala Blasters FC)
Leading the frontline, Kerala Blasters FC striker Koldo Obieta earned the center-forward spot with three goals in three matches for his side.
Displaying clinical finishing and strong hold-up play, Obieta was the runaway leader for the Golden Boot award in this year’s tournament.
LW: Alaeddine Ajaraie (NorthEast United FC)

On the left, NorthEast United’s Alaeddine Ajaraie matched that return while scoring two goals and one assist in three games.
While providing dynamic ball progression, Benali’s men will have been happy about Ajaraie leading their line. Continuing his goal-scoring form from last season, the Moroccan forward remains their go-to man for winning big games.
