The Frenchman is heading towards the end of his contract at the club.
Paul Pogba has been central to a lot of debates since his arrival at Manchester United for a second stint. The midfielder re-signed for the Red Devils in 2016 for a club-record fee after a brilliant spell with Juventus. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner with France is one of the most sought after midfielders in the world. However, at Manchester United, he has often come under the scanner with questions raised in regards to his commitment to the club as well as his performance on the field.
Moreover, the 28-year-old is out of contract at the club at the end of this season. Reportedly, the club wants to renew Pogba’s contract and an offer is already on the table. However, Paul Pogba is yet to pen a deal and could potentially leave for free next summer. Of course, there will be many suitors waiting to pounce on the star midfielder on a free transfer.

Having said that, Manchester United should do everything in their power to keep the Frenchman at Old Trafford and get him to sign a new contract. Here are the five reasons why Paul Pogba should sign a new contract with Manchester United:
5. Possibility of playing under Antonio Conte again
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under immense pressure after a bad run of results in the past few weeks. The embarrassing 0-5 defeat to Liverpool recently pushed the tactician into a corner and reports of him coming under the knife have started to surface. In a scenario where the Norwegian is relieved of his duties, Antonio Conte is the favourite to take over as manager.
Paul Pogba shone under the tactician during their time with Juventus back in Serie A. The duo could reunite and take Manchester United forward. If Conte arrives, then Pogba will certainly enjoy more playing time and the squad will be built around the Frenchman.
4. Chance to continue in the Premier League
The Premier League is arguably the most competitive league in the world. As a result, it also enjoys a massive viewership across the globe. Given the competitiveness of the league, not many players can boast of winning the Premier League. Pogba is one such player, who despite a decorated resume, is yet to lift the Premier League title.
When he rejoined the Red Devils, Pogba's ambition was to win the Premier League and add to his four Serie A trophies. But that is yet to bear fruit. If he signs an extension, the Frenchman can take another step into fulfilling his goals. Paul Pogba is also more likely to get a lucrative contract.
3. Playing alongside a superstar like Cristiano Ronaldo
As aforementioned, the Premier League houses some of the best players in the world. During the summer transfer window, Manchester United created a lot of buzz by signing Cristiano Ronaldo for a second time. Playing alongside either of Lionel Messi or Ronaldo is a very rare privilege which only a few players get. Pogba and Ronaldo look very strong on paper and the chance to play with the Portuguese legend is invaluable.
However, the point is not only Ronaldo, but the squad at Manchester United which involves Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho as well. The French connection with Varane and Martial also works in Pogba’s favour. Lastly, the 28-year-old has shown that Bruno Fernandes and him can play together and flourish at the same time.

2. Manchester United coming out of transitional phase
Since Pogba’s arrival, the Red Devils have been in a transitional phase. The club expected the rebuild to be around their former academy player. Paul Pogba played a crucial role in several major steps in rebuilding the squad such as helping the club lift the UEFA Europa League in 2016/17. However, Jose Mourinho’s dismissal further extended the transitional phase as his successor Solskjaer had different ideas for the squad.
The general feeling is that the club has now built a squad to Solskjaer’s liking and it is a strong enough squad to challenge for every trophy out there. With better quality players around him, Paul Pogba would flourish even more and help the team win trophies moving forward.

1. Chance of becoming one of the highest-paid player at the club
Paul Pogba is an exceptional talent, who can influence the outcome of a game single-handedly. He racked up seven assists in the first three Premier League games this season, which showcases his brilliant gameplay. Expectedly, a talent like Paul Pogba deserves a lucrative contract, which is already on the table according to reports. Manchester United are reportedly willing to pay £400,000 per week for his services, making him one of the highest-paid players in the league.
The 28-year-old is heading towards the latter stage of his career and the next contract could be his last major one. Talking purely in practical terms as a footballer who has a short career, Pogba must consider signing the extension due to the hefty wages on offer. Pogba might not get the same wages elsewhere and that is a risk he will have to take if he leaves the club for free.
