Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne set for MLS or Saudi Pro League move at end of season
The midfielder will become a free agent after the end of the season.
At the end of the current season, Kevin De Bruyne could be moving to Saudi Arabia or the MLS. With a number of possibilities open, the midfielder’s future is now uncertain as his contract at the Etihad Stadium expires in the 2025 summer.
One of the options is Major League Soccer, where he is believed to have discussed a transfer to the league. The majority of teams at that level are reportedly eager to sign the Manchester City player and would be willing to move their present designated stars to create room for him.
Another alternative is to relocate to Saudi Arabia, where it would probably result in a PIF-backed team like Al Nassr or Al Ahli to grab his signature
De Bruyne’s preference is still to stay at Man City, where it is rumoured that if he informs the team he wants to stay, it will be easy to get a new contract, probably for another year.
The Belgium international has put aside any plans to speak with club officials about his future at Manchester City since he has been mostly disappointed by injury and conditioning issues throughout the current season.
After missing a few months due to a groin and abdominal issue, as well as nerve pain anytime he struck the ball with any force, De Bruyne has only just resumed regular first-team training and match participation.
Even if there is still a lot of ambiguity in the football world about Kevin De Bruyne’s future in the English game, it seems like he has a lot of options for next summer, when his current City deal expires.
Regarding the possibility of remaining at the Etihad Stadium, Ornstein states that Manchester City are open to the 33-year-old and that he would “basically need to inform them of his intentions.” After that, the contract would appear “straightforward.”
