UEFA confirm venues for 2026 & 2027 European competition finals

The 2024 Champions League final will take place at Wembley

In light of the uncertainties surrounding San Siro’s future, UEFA decided to put Milan’s San Siro “on hold” for 2027 until UEFA gets plans confirmed on revamp. The 2026 women’s CL final in Oslo and the men’s 2026 UCL final will be played in Budapest.

There were just two contenders for the two finals that were supposed to be awarded: San Siro and Puskás Arena. This year’s final will be held at London’s Wembley Stadium on June 1; while Bayern Munich’s home will serve as the venue for next year.

The famous San Siro, which the city of Milan owns and was formerly known as Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, has been threatened with demolition for a long time. AC Milan and Inter Milan, its co-tenants, have searched for new residences that they can purchase.

The European Cup or Champions League final might take place in the 75,000-seat stadium for the fifth time, exactly one year after it will host the 2026 Winter Olympics closing ceremony.

Besiktas’s stadium will host two European finals back-to-back. The 2026 Europa League final and the 2027 Conference League final will be held there.

Since its opening five years ago, the 70,000-seat Puskás Arena has been a preferred location for UEFA, having played host to substitute matches during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Oslo, Norway will host the 2026 Women’s Champions League final, according to UEFA’s administrative council. The two venues for the forthcoming finals were the Puskas Arena in Budapest and San Siro in Milan.

Meanwhile, this year’s final will be played between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in Wembley.

UEFA are now looking for the next stadium to host the 2027 final and the San Siro of AC Milan and Inter Milan have emerged as one of the arenas to organise the competition but it has been on hold and will be discussed later by the UEFA.
