Formula 1: Top three favourites to win Brazilian GP 2023
By Hisan Kidwai
The Formula 1 Brazilian GP is arguably the best race on the calendar, thanks in part to the overtaking opportunities it offers, unlike Mexico. Moreover, with the addition of the new Sprint format, let’s take a look at the top three favourites to win the Brazilian GP.
3. Lando Norris
McLaren’s return to fame has been nothing short of extraordinary, considering the team was plum last in the first few races. However, despite Lando Norris facing difficulties in qualifying at the Mexican GP, his race pace was comparable to Verstappen’s, as he finished 5th after starting 17th. As a result, if Norris can secure a top-3 qualifying spot at the Brazilian GP, he could challenge Max for the lead in turn 1.

2. Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen has had a stellar 2023 season, with 16 race victories already. And although it may seem like Max would also dominate in Brazil, his performance at the Interlagos circuit hasn’t been the best. This is because last year, Verstappen finished 6th, which was one of the few races where he didn’t finish in the top 5. Therefore, for Verstappen to secure a victory at the circuit, he would need to consider his race pace, given the ample overtaking opportunities at Interlagos.

1. Lewis Hamilton
Perhaps the favourite to win the race, Lewis Hamilton’s prowess at the Brazilian GP is well-documented, having claimed victory three times. Moreover, the sheer support he receives at the circuit, coupled with a commendable second-place finish at the Mexican GP, indicates that if Hamilton is to win a race in the 2023 season, it’s likely to be at Interlagos.
