The tournament is taking place in India for the first time.

The Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2023 will mark a historic moment for Indian hockey as it takes place in the country for the first time in the tournament’s history. The tournament features six competing teams, making it a dynamic and highly competitive event. The participating teams are hosts India, defending champions Japan, South Korea, China, Malaysia, and Thailand.

Japan, the defending champions, and India, which had withdrawn from the previous edition, are set to showcase their prowess. Indian women’s hockey team will aim to secure their second title after a disappointing performance at the Asian Games 2023.

The Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2023, organized by the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) since 2010, has seen intermittent scheduling due to unforeseen breaks. The 2023 edition will be only the seventh installment of this prestigious competition.

South Korea and Japan have been dominant, with three and two titles, respectively. India clinched the title once in 2016, defeating China 2-1 in the final. Japan enters as the defending champions, having won the previous edition by defeating South Korea 2-1 in the final.
