The tournament will crown a new champion.

There has been an excellent display of tennis in all of the categories in the 2022 US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City. Day 11 saw the two semi-finals take place in Women’s Singles which has revealed the two contenders for the final, which is set to take place on Sunday, 11 September 2022.

One of the finalists is top seed Iga Swiatek, who is looking to win her first-ever US Open title. The Pole was up against sixth seed Aryna Sabalenka in the penultimate fixture. She beat her in three sets by a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 score. Coming back to win the game after losing the first set just goes to show the immense determination of Swiatek who took the victory in two hours and 11 minutes at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

However, she will face an equally confident player in the final, who is chasing her first-ever Grand Slam trophy.

Ons Jabeur Reaches The Final

Ons Jabeur will be Iga Swiatek’s opponent in the final fixture for the Women’s Singles title. The fifth seed was the runner-up at the 2022 Wimbledon and carried her form into the 2022 US Open. She became the first Tunisian and Arab player to reach the final of a Grand Slam when she met Elena Rybakina in the final at Wimbledon.

She reaches the US Open final after convincingly defeating Caroline Garcia of France. The semifinal contest between the two only lasted an hour and six minutes as Jabuer won it by 6-1, 6-3. A meeting between Swiatek and Jabuer in the final is a mouth-watering tie.
