Indian Sports Calendar in 2023: Major events to watch in third week of April

Archery will see the action begin for the season in the coming week.

A lot of sporting events are lined up for the upcoming week of the Indian sports calendar. The first stage of the Archery World Cup is set to be held in Antalya with Tokyo Olympian Atanu Das set to make his return to the Indian team at the world event. Manika Batra will be the lone Indian to take part in the WTT Champions Macao competition.

Here we take a look at the events to follow in the upcoming week (April 17-23 April) in the Indian sports calendar.

Doubles - Rohan Bopanna / Matthew Ebden

Rohan Bopanna

Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden shall look to come back stronger after losing in the second round at the Monte Carlo Masters

17 April - 23 April - ATP Munich Open (ATP 250)

Doubles - Yuki Bhambri / Saketh Myneni

Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni, fondly called YukiSaki, lost in the quarterfinals at a Challenger 125 event from the Indian Sports calendar of the last week.

17 April - 23 April - ATP Banja Luka (ATP 250)

Doubles - Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan / Sriram Balaji

The Indian pairing has not gotten into the main draw yet but is seeded first in the alternates list and is most likely to enter the main draw.

17 April - 23 April - di Roseto degli Abruzzi (ATP 75)

Singles - Sumit Nagal (Qualifying)

Sumit Nagal lost in the opening rounds of the previous two Challenger events (Split and Barletta Challenger). He started the Indian Sports Calendar for the 2023 season on a great note but is not finding good rhythm at the clay season (ahead of the French Open)

Table Tennis

17 April - 23 April - WTT Champions Macao

Singles - Manika Batra

Manika Batra will be the lone Indian participating in the prestigious event. She lost in the opening round last week at the WTT Champions Xinxiang in the only Table Tennis event of the Indian Sports Calendar.

11 April - 22 April - ISSF Rifle/Pistol World Cup, Peru

Archery

18 April - 23 April - Archery World Cup, Antalya

Tarundeep Rai, Atanu Das, Dhiraj Bommadevara, and Neeraj Chauhan spearhead the men’s recurve contingent. Deepika Kumari and Abhishek Verma are the notable absentees from the women’s recurve and men’s compound.

Climbing

21 April to 23 April - IFSC Climbing World Cup (Bouldering), Japan
