What records could Jannik Sinner break at Wimbledon 2025?

Jannik Sinner will be eyeing his first Wimbledon title.

Nearly 20 days after the Roland Garros heartbreak, Jannik Sinner hopes for redemption at Wimbledon 2025. The arena is one of the few competitions Sinner has not managed to conquer, with his best outing at the grass-court event coming in 2023, when he reached the semi-finals.

The World No.1 did not have an ideal start to the grass season, losing to Bublik in the second round of the Halle Open 2025. However, despite the defeat, Sinner will be one of the title favorites for the men’s singles edition at the All England Club Championship. Here we explore some of the records that could be broken if Sinner wins his maiden Wimbledon title.

First Italian to win Wimbledon

If Jannik Sinner wins Wimbledon, he will become the first Italian—male or female to claim the singles title at SW19. No Italian man has ever lifted the Wimbledon trophy, with Matteo Berrettini being the first to reach the final in 2021, beaten by Novak Djokovic. Jasmine Paolini became the first Italian woman to reach the final in 2024, losing to Barbora Krejcikova.

Seventh man to win the Australian Open and Wimbledon in the same year

Should 3-time Grand Slam champion Sinner add Wimbledon 2025 to his tally, he will become just the seventh male player to achieve this double in the Open Era.

Legends like Rod Laver, Jimmy Connors, John Newcombe, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic have achieved this rare feat. Joining this group would place Sinner among tennis’s most elite champions.

First player born in 2000 or later to reach the final of all four Grand Slam tournaments

Having triumphed at the US Open 2024, the Australian Open in 2024 and 2025, alongside reaching the finals of the French Open in 2025, Sinner would be the first to contest consecutive Grand Slam finals in all Major finals if he manages to qualify for the finals at Wimbledon 2025.

His biggest rival, Carlos Alcaraz, has not played an Australian Open final as of 2025. Sinner has excellent footwork, adaptability, and versatility to accomplish this task, including. No other Italian in history has achieved this cross-surface consistency.

Sixth youngest World No. 1 (male) to win Wimbledon

Should Sinner win Wimbledon as World No. 1 at age 23, he would become the sixth youngest male top-ranked player to do so. Only Carlos Alcaraz, Lleyton Hewitt, Jimmy Connors, Björn Borg, and Roger Federer achieved this milestone at a younger age.

First man outside the ‘Big 3’ to reach finals of the Italian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon in the same year

Since the dominance of Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic, no other male player has reached the finals of the Italian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon in a single season. Having already reached the finals in Rome and Paris, losing to Alcaraz on both counts, he would create history if he manages to go the distance in London.

Djokovic won both Wimbledon and Roland Garros in 2021 after losing the Rome final. In 2006, Nadal won Rome and Paris before losing the Wimbledon final to Federer, who had finished runner-up in Rome and Paris but triumphed at Wimbledon.
