South Korea vs India, Davis Cup 2026 Qualifiers Round 2: Full schedule, fixtures, results, live streaming details

Sumit Nagal and DK Suresh will lead India’s charge against South Korea in Davis Cup 2026

The past few years have not been great for Indian tennis. Rohan Bopanna’s retirement and Sumit Nagal’s exit from the top-200 ATP rankings have further diminished India’s presence in Grand Slams, raising questions over the sport’s future in the country.

However, a historic moment awaits the nation as India aims to reach the quarter-finals of the 2026 Davis Cup. If India manages to pull it off, it would be just the fourth-ever instance, and the first time since 1987.

They have their task cut out for them, as they face team South Korea away from home.

India reached the second round after staging two massive upsets, against Switzerland and the Netherlands. DK Suresh was the hero in India’s stunning victory over the Dutch, and he will have to deliver again if India is to script history.

Sumit Nagal is India’s top-seeded singles player, but his recent form hasn’t been very inspiring. He played in the qualifiers of the US Open, losing the first-round qualifier to Arthur Gea.

Yuki Bhambri was an integral part of the Indian doubles team, but has now been ruled out of the second-round tie due to a right-leg strain.

South Korea’s Kwon Soonwoo will present the biggest challenge to India. Currently ranked No. 154, Soonwoo has won three challenger titles this season, and is the most in-form player out of all the singles players in this tie.

Where India hold the edge is in the second singles match-up and the doubles tie. South Korea’s doubles duo are ranked outside the top-100, and hence India will hope that they can outmatch the home team to secure a historic spot in the knockout phase.

With history on the line, a knockout intriguing two days of tennis awaits in Seoul, just days ahead of the 2026 Asian Games.
