WWE has showcased some of the best heel turns in the last decade

WWE is the landscape to some of the most intriguing and enthralling personalities in the world of sports and entertainment. The locker room is divided into two types of characters, popularly known as ‘babyface’ to refer to a good person loved by the audience and ‘heel’ portrayed by a bad guy heckled and jeered by the WWE Universe.

Over the years, we have seen multiple WWE superstars switch characters depending on their creative direction and bookings. However, memorable turns have WWE stars turning heel such as with Becky Lynch and Roman Reigns that skyrocketed their careers to unprecedented heights.

Looking over at the current scenario and WWE roster, here are five WWE superstars who need to turn heel soon to elevate or give a new direction to their careers:

5. Zelina Vega

Zelina Vega garnered maximum attention at the time she portrayed a heel character, right from her debut in NXT in 2017 to her tenure with Andrade El Idolo and winning multiple accolades like the Queen’s Crown and WWE Women’s tag team titles.

However, her babyface run in the LWO has only seen her miss out on opportunities and major losses. Therefore, she could revert back to her old tactics, branch out on her own, and become a narcissistic heel to elevate her career.

4. Kevin Owens

Long before Kevin Owens was a beloved figure on the main roster, he was one of the most dangerous and destructive heel characters back in NXT. Although the WWE Universe has seen glimpses during his main roster runs as well, Owens has been a babyface for a long time now.

With an array of babyface stars on SmackDown at the moment, a monster heel Kevin Owens could become an exciting addition, leading him to gain more traction and possibly win another World Championship like he did back in 2016 during his heel run.

3. Bianca Belair

Ever since WWE Universe witnessed Bianca Belair in the global juggernaut, she has been a highly popular babyface WWE star which led her to huge success in the company. But WWE can shock the entire fanbase by turning her heel to give her a fresh creative direction.

Moreover, as she has already been tagging along with Jade Cargill, many have been anticipating the dream showdown to take place between them. So a heel turn can lead to an exciting build-up for their match with the EST of WWE as a monster heel and Jade Cargill portraying the good guy.

2. Randy Orton

Randy Orton has been known to be the most destructive while channeling his inner demons and skyrocketed his young singles career in the late 2000s with the same approach.

Moreover, with the top heel on SmackDown, Roman Reigns on an extended break for the unforeseen future, SmackDown could insert Randy Orton into that role. This could lead to the fans witnessing the dangerous and conniving Viper who is known to lay carnage all around the landscape.

1. Cody Rhodes

The WWE Universe was firmly behind Cody Rhodes as he finished the story at WrestleMania 40 by dethroning Roman Reigns. However, ever since he donned the role of a fighting champion, a major portion of the fanbase on social media has not been impressed with Rhodes in the same role as Roman Reigns once was, but in babyface fashion.

Moreover, he has noticed the same and stated that he would love to explore the heel character in the future. The Cody detractors could grow over time, and reach a major point where WWE pulls the trigger on Rhodes and turns him heel to show his dark side to the WWE Universe.
