Two championships changed hands on the 8/13 episode of WWE NXT

WWE successfully hosted the August 13, 2024 episode of WWE NXT live from Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida, United States. WWE showcased some of the best matches and segments on the show including two championship matches. Get to know what happened on WWE NXT this week, as we came out with a detailed summary of everything that happened on the show.

Ethan Page & Joe Hendry

Ethan Page kicked off this week’s episode of WWE NXT recalling what happened last week. He addressed his win against Oro Mensah and said that nobody could take the title from him. He mentioned Wes Lee, Trick Williams and Pete Dunne’s names. He said that it is not NXT and it’s NX-Me. Joe Hendry made his appearance and apologized for interrupting him. Hendry said that Page became the talking point on NXT Heatwave after winning the title until his face showed up to a close show.

Page asked why he was in NXT and asked him to move back to TNA. Hendry says that he is here to win the NXT title. Both picked up an argument and Page left the ring. Hendry celebrated with the NXT Universe until Wes Lee super-kicked Hendry.

Gauntlet match numbers

Ava was backstage with the NXT Women’s stars and she announced that there would be a Gauntlet match next week and the winner will face Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s Championship. The numbers were chosen in order by Wren Sinclair (1), Adriana Rizzo (2), Sol Ruca (3), Jaida Parker (4), Kendal Grey (5) & Karmen Petrovic (6).

NXT Heritage Cup Match- Tony D’Angelo vs Charlie Dempsey

Tony D’Angelo defended his NXT Heritage Cup against Charlie Dempsey of the NQCC. The first round went without a fall, where both attempted submission maneuvers. Tony D’Angelo had the first fall in the second round. The third round went during the commercial.

In the fourth round, Dempsey managed to equal the score. Miles Bourne interfered during round five and Channing got in the ring. This distracted the referee and Sinclair took a shot on D’Angelo, helping Dempsey perform the Dragon Suplex to win the NXT Heritage Cup.

Lexis King vs Eddy Thorpe

This is a squash match, where Lexis King dominated Thorpe with emphatic fashion and with the neck breaker to win the match by pinfall.

Lola Vice vs Tatum Paxley

Kelandi Jordan was on the ringside on the commentary desk for the match. The match went in a slow phase, during the mid-match Wendy Choo choked Jordan from the audience side and took her out. Paxley tried to take advantage of the distraction, but Lola Vice with the back fist pinned her.

Wes Lee, Joe Hendry & Pete Dunne

Wes Lee addressed why he attacked the Rascalz and said that he was tired of them, as they let him down. Wes Lee got booed. He got a match with Zachary Wentz at No Mercy and said that he would send him back to TNA and look for the NXT Championship.

Pete Dunne interrupted him and said that he was impressed with Lee’s actions, but said that he would be the one next to challenge for the NXT title. Joe Hendry came and attacked Wes Lee for what happened earlier. Pete Dunne joined the fight and a brawl broke out, but securities separated them.

NXT North American Championship Match- Oba Femi vs Otis

Otis was the mystery challenger for the NXT North American title. Both had a big beef fight. Tozawa tried to hype Otis, but Oba Femi took him down with the chop. This made Otis fire up and take advantage of the champ. However, in the end, Femi delivered the powerbomb to retain the title.

Izzi Dame vs Brinley Reece

Izzi was in major control of the match and Briley took her for a brief control and bullied her by punching on the face. However, Dame pinned Reece and won the match.

NXT Tag Team Championships- Nathan Frazier and Axiom vs Chase U

Axiom and Nathan Frazer had a big start and sent Andre and Holland out of the ring. Chase U had a brief control, but Axiom almost ended the match in the middle unless Andre saved him, In the final moments of the match, Andre pushed Frazer down to the announcement table. Axiom took Andre down, but Holland delivered the clothesline to Axiom to pin him and win the NXT Tag Team Championship.
