Major update on Ricochet’s WWE contract status

Ricochet is one of the best highflyer professional wrestlers of the modern era. He started his pro-wrestling career in 2003 and wrestled for a number of years on the Independent circuits all across the world and made his way to WWE in 2018. He made a brief stint in NXT and made his main roster the following year, making a huge impact.

He is a four-time champion in WWE, however his skills are quite not utilized, making him an underdog. It was previously reported that Ricochet’s WWE contract is nearing an end this summer. Now a backstage report regarding his contract status has been revealed.

Ricochet leaving WWE

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Ricochet has given a notice to WWE that he will not be signing a new deal and has shown his intent to leave the company upon contract expiry. The report suggests that there is a lot of support for Ricochet’s decision and would be betting on himself to be the hottest commodity as a free agent soon.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider said,

“One source we spoke with said they were giving Ricochet ‘all the credit in the world for betting on himself.’ One would think he’ll quickly be a hot commodity as a free agent.”

The report also suggests that Ricochet will soon be written out of storylines to prepare for his exit from WWE. Ricochet is currently working on Monday Night on Raw in a heated triangular rivalry with Bron Breakker and Ilja Dragunov. He recently lost his WWE Speed Championship to Andrade on June 7, 2024 tapings, where the taping is yet to be released.

Will Ospreay called out Ricochet for a match

The AEW International Champion Will Ospreay in an interview with ComicBook weeks ago called out Ricochet for a match and potentially teased that he could join AEW and they would have a match again.

Will Ospreay said,

“I don’t know how much longer he has got in his contract, but I think it might be up soon, man, I don’t know. I want him to know that there are people here that genuinely appreciate his work and I want to wrestle him again. I want him back. I want him to know that there isn’t a bar. You are the f–king bar. I just want to see him with more time and ability to showcase himself how I saw him.“

“He’s one of the best going, and if the opportunity presents itself, I think he should bet on himself. I think he should remind himself that he’s one of the best high-flyers to ever do it. If it means he’s got to come for me, then do it, boss, because I’m right here waiting for you.”

All these reports and teases seem like Ricochet will be moving to AEW after his WWE contract expires. However there is no official information from either side. We need to wait until a decision is made, as pro-wrestling & pro-wrestlers are unpredictable.
