Real Madrid injury update ahead of UCL semi-final against Bayern Munich; Thibaut Courtois & David Alaba part of travelling squad
Real Madrid will have a fully fit squad to face Bayern
Friday’s LaLiga match saw Real Madrid, who destroyed Manchester City’s hopes of winning two straight titles in the quarterfinals, defeat Real Sociedad 1-0 despite Ancelotti fielding a patchwork squad.
Ferland Mendy (weariness) and Rodrygo (sickness) were among the absences, and Jude Bellingham (who had a stomach ailment over the previous week) did not come off the bench.
There is positive news in the camp as Thibaut Courtois and David Alaba have been named in the travelling squad.
The three have subsequently resumed their regular training, so Ancelotti will still be missing three key defensive players for the first leg. Nevertheless, the trio is anticipated to be cleared to go to Munich.
A one-game ban is imposed on Dani Carvajal for his third booking in the 2023–24 Champions League at the Etihad.
Lucas Vazquez is expected to start at right back with Carvajal in the sin bin, but Aurelien Tchouameni, who just returned from a Champions League ban, may also be able to fill Andriy Lunin’s defensive role.

After suffering an ACL injury, Eder Militao played 90 minutes versus Sociedad, but he is still not fully recovered. Tchouameni should start in place of Militao, and Fran Garcia and Nacho Fernandez should give way to Mendy and Antonio Rudiger, respectively.
Toni Kroos, Federico Valverde, and Eduardo Camavinga will return to the team as a result of a number of engine room changes, and Arda Guler’s victory over Sociedad won’t be enough to keep him starting over the healthy Bellingham.
At the Allianz Arena, the England international will undoubtedly be operating just off the Brazilian duo of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, as Brahim Diaz and Joselu both forfeit their spots in the starting lineup.
