We can't be happy with the defeat, but were better- Zinedine Zidane after the loss to Tottenham Hotspur
The gaffer reflected on the game and showcased positivity after his side’s most recent defeat.
Real Madrid’s pre-season horror took another dark step after the recent 7-3 drubbing at the hands of city rivals Atletico Madrid, as the side lost their Audi Cup semi-final clash to the Premier League outfit, Tottenham Hotspur.
Harry Kane scored the solitary goal of the game while the Los Blancos failed to register on the scoring sheet. Zinedine Zidane spoke to the media in the post-match conference and expressed his trust in the players and believes a victory will act as a domino effect leading to better results.
The Frenchman said, “I always think positively and nobody can take what we're going to do this year away from me. We ended a tough season and we've had a difficult start to this one.”

“I know that I've got an excellent team. We're still not ready. We're going to regain more of our play and confidence and we'll get through this. All we need to do is win one game", added the 47-year-old.
Speaking in context of the game on the night, he further added that, “We made a better start tonight and we need to improve every day. We can't be happy with the defeat, but we were better in all departments. That's the positive thing.”
The problems for Real Madrid are increasing by the day. Despite making some exceptional moves early in the transfer market with quick-fire signings of players like Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Ferland Mendy, Eder Militao, and Rodrygo, the club has been marred with injuries of late.
Marco Asensio could be out for the whole season with a ruptured ACL, and other figures like Thibaut Courtois and Ferland Mendy among others have been sidelined as well.
The tactician also spoke regarding Gareth Bale who was not part of the squad against Spurs and has been constantly rumoured to be leaving the club. He said, “He didn't travel because he wasn't fit. After speaking with the doctors, the best thing was for him to stay in Madrid. He stayed back and is training there. It was a joint decision between the player, medical staff and the coach.”

Real Madrid will now face Fenerbahce today in the third-place match of the Audi Cup 2019.
